Blackpink’s Lisa Manoban’s Bittersweet Birthday Post Is Very Relatable | British Vogue

On 27 March, Blackpink 's Lisa Manoban turned 24. It would be easy to assume her mountain of gifts from Celine and and personalised cake from MAC added up to the perfect birthday, but Lisa admitted that for her, something was missing.

...

Addressing her 48.9 million followers, Lisa explained that she wasn't able to spend her birthday with her family – an experience that will strike a chord with so many. As Lisa is based in Seoul but her family are from Thailand, travel restrictions prevented them from getting together to mark her special day. It's a bittersweet feeling that will be familiar to many of her fans, not least her fellow Aries signs among them, who are marking their second birthday in lockdown.

BTS, Blackpink's Rosé, Cardi B And Imagine Dragons: 5 Important Moves On This Week's Hot 100

Quite a few singles leap up the Hot 100 this week, as the names behind them either took home gold during the recent Grammy Awards, performed during the televised ceremony, or managed both. Further down on the all-genre ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., several new cuts make notable debuts, bringing some of the most popular acts back to the tally in one way or another.

...

"Up" is Cardi's fifth No. 1 on the Hot 100, and this latest win extends her record as the female rapper with the most chart-toppers.

After several years of relative silence, Imagine Dragons are back with not one, but two new singles. The more popular of the two, "Follow You," makes its way to the Hot 100, opening at No. 83. The tune is the band's seventeenth to reach the chart, and it's their first win on the tally since 2019. It also likely precedes an album, which could come before the end of 2021.

Rosé From Blackpink Joins Psy, CL And BTS's J-Hope And Suga With Her First Hot 100 Hit

INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 12: (L-R) Singer Rose of BLACKPINK performs onstage during the 2019 ... [+] Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 12, 2019 in Indio, California. (Photo by Scott Dudelson/Getty Images for Coachella)

As "On The Ground" debuts on the Hot 100, Rosé makes history as just the fifth solo South Korean musician to appear on the most competitive songs ranking in the U.S. It's still relatively uncommon for new acts from the Asian nation to rack up enough streams and sales in a single week to make their way to the list, and Rosé is in excellent company with this win.

The first South Korean solo musician to chart a hit on the Hot 100 was Psy, who remains the musician with the most placements (when excluding groups, that is). His viral sensation "Gangnam Style" brought K-pop to new heights on the ranking in 2012 and introduced countless millions to the style. It remains one of the highest-ranking efforts by an artist from that part of the world, as it peaked at No. 2.

Psy would go on to place four more tracks on the Hot 100 over the next several years, and he is still the South Korean soloist with the most hits on the tally.

...

The only two other South Korean musicians who have landed on the Hot 100 solo are members of the band BTS, and they benefited greatly from the immense popularity of the boy band.

In 2019, J-Hope recruited Latin/pop singer Becky G for "Chicken Noodle Soup," which rose as high as No. 81. Last year, his bandmate Suga, using his moniker Agust D, stepped up a little higher. His solo cut "Daechwita" peaked at No. 76 in June 2020.

"On The Ground" was released as a double single, with "Gone" appearing on the two-track collection Rosé titled R . The latter cut was also a strong seller in America in its introductory week, but it didn't perform quite well enough to reach the Hot 100.

These two songs may be just the first taste of solo music from Rosé, and she could soon make history again with more music on her own, which may very well climb even higher.

Many things are taking place:

Here's How the BLACKPINK Members Supported Rosé Ahead of Her Solo Debut

Rosé is one of the main vocalists of K-pop group BLACKPINK. Many people often know her for her work in the group, but she recently debuted as a solo artist.

This is Rosé's first time working on an album by herself, and taking on such a feat can be nerve-wracking for some people. Fortunately, Rosé's fellow BLACKPINK members were there to support her.

...

In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music , Rosé revealed that she had been wanting to release her own solo music "for a very, very long time." In fact, she recorded her first solo song in the studio about three years ago.

"I always kind of had at the back of my head that I would one day have a song of my own too, definitely," she added. "And I knew that a lot of my fans had expected very highly of that too. So it was a very big step for me."

She continued, "But, I mean, it was a long way getting here. So I think it was about time and I was very excited to show everybody my full solo song."

While Rosé has been working on her solo music without her BLACKPINK members, they are still there for moral support.

During a recent appearance on the Korean show Knowing Bros , Rosé shared that her members supported her in different ways as she prepared for the release of her album and song.

She also shared that Jennie, who released solo music in 2018, gave her some advice: "We had a video call during the first recording, and [Jennie said], 'You don't have to worry too much. Much it short and sweet.'"

In late 2020, YG Entertainment announced that both Rosé and Lisa would release solo music in 2021. Now that Rosé solo work has come out, fans are looking forward to see what Lisa has in store.

Three-year-old Blackpink fan's video goes viral, Entertainment News & Top Stories - The Straits

Possibly Blackpink's youngest fan, three-year-old Lucy Lee's video has gone viral for her dance moves to the K-pop girl group's song Bombayah.

In an Instagram video posted on March 19, the little girl, who is the daughter of Hong Kong actor Sam Lee, is seen imitating the quartet's high-energy movements - waving her hands in the air, flinging her head wildly and even writhing on the floor.

She also warbles along adorably to the 2016 hit, singing the lyrics "Bombayah" and "Blackpink in the area".

The video was subsequently reposted by Mr Choi Soon-ho, who works with Blackpink, as well as meme site 9gag's official Instagram account, where it has garnered more than 1.6 million views and went viral last week.

The cute little girl with the bowl haircut currently has 236,000 followers on her account @lucy.is.good, which is run by her mother.

In a subsequent post, her mum wrote that many people have told her they have seen her daughter's antics and added: "I really laughed so hard until I had back pain."

Blackpink's Rosé: New Song 'On the Ground,' Her Puppy Hank - Rolling Stone

Blackpink ’s Rosé spoke about the origins of her new solo song, “On the Ground,” auditioning for YG, and more in the latest installment of Rolling Stone ’s “ The First Time .”

“On the Ground” is one of two tracks on Rosé’s debut solo project, R , which was released March 12th. She says Blackpink’s producer brought the song to them at a dinner, but she was the one who latched onto it the most. “I hadn’t heard a song like that before,” she says, “I didn’t expect to hear a song like that because every song that we get or begin with doesn’t have these kinds of messages in it. For us, it was kind of like, I think this song kinda speaks our mind.”

As to how she ended up in Blackpink in the first place, Rosé credits her father with encouraging her to audition for Blackpink’s label, YG Entertainment. “I was just a very awkward, lost 16-year-old girl,” Rosé recalls. “I was there because my dad told me he’s noticed that I have a love for music and that he doesn’t want me to regret it when I’m older, that I haven’t tried to pursue anything through it. I remember just being there in Sydney in that audition room being like… I’m just gonna try to enjoy it, since I’m probably not going to get it, and I’m just going to try to remember this moment and get some good memories out of it. Then I left and I got a call and I was like, ‘Huh, that’s very odd!’ ”
