Why Millennials can't let go of college football video games - Los Angeles Times

Throughout my teenage years, I would wait in line hours before the store opened on the release day for EA Sports' NCAA Football series. It was no different that summer, even as I was supposed to be working to convince my editors at the Tampa Tribune to give me a real job. (They did not, and as you read further, that won't surprise you.)

The first weekend after procuring our prize, Steve, a friend from college, and I went into hibernation, playing the game nonstop and dreaming of what that year's Michigan football season would bring. The answer was more heartache, of course, but as we plowed through the Big Ten on his Playstation2 into the wee hours of the morning, we found an easy escape from reality.

This may worth something:

10 short video games to play with your partner (or housemate) | Games | The Guardian

A gently unsettling co-operative game in which you play two shadow beings rolling a big orb of light around. Step into the darkness and you dissolve, so you have to stay close to the orb and avoid accidentally catching each other in your own shadows. Good puzzles, creepy atmosphere and only occasionally frustrating.

You are a dog with two heads (or two dogs with one body – existential question), pootling your way through cute and surreal puzzle dreamscapes, stretching your little sausage self out to wind around posts and reach for golden bones. Adorable, engaging, and not too demanding.

The Video Games We're Most Looking Forward to in 2021 | WIRED

Last year, we got two new consoles, and … some new games? Regardless, players on all platforms need new things to play—especially now. Luckily, there are plenty of fresh titles on the way. A new Overwatch, a new Halo , and League of Legends is finally coming to phones and consoles. OK, so maybe not everything we're hoping for will actually see the light of day in this calendar year, but we have hopes. Here are the games we're most excited to play in 2021.

Befitting an MMORPG, it seems you can choose to either tank with melee combat, use ranged attacks, or learn arcane ones—all while harvesting the land and mastering your crafting skills, because there's nothing gamers like more than to grind out skill levels. New World is currently available for preorder and will be released, according to the preorder page on Amazon, on May 25. —Saira Mueller

20 Best Video Games 2021 - Top Gaming Release Reviews This Year

It’s not clear whether or not we’re going to get a new Mario game this year. Like a new, new Mario game, not a 3D World , which is a glorified port of a Wii U game from 2013. That being said, Super Mario 3D World is by no means a let-down. The title, which, because it originally premiered on the despised Wii U did not get its due back in the early 2010s, is set to reach a much wider audience on the Switch.

RPGs have come a long way since the tactical party gameplay of NES- and SNES-era Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem . Luckily, if you're yearning for something new but nostalgic, you've got the Bravely Default series. A team-up between Square Enix and Nintendo, Bravely Default is easily one of the most polished, most engaging turn-based RPGs I’ve ever played. The game features all the fantasy classes and storytelling you could want. —C.S.

Scrapped GoldenEye 007 game 'remaster' leaks online - BBC News

A highly sought-after remaster of the hit James Bond video game GoldenEye 007 has been leaked online more than a decade after it was cancelled.

Developer Rare produced the original game in 1997, and was working on an updated version for the Xbox in 2007.

But the project was scrapped because the various parties involved could not reach an agreement over rights.

The leak came a week after YouTube gamer Graslu00 posted a two-hour video showcasing the remastered software.

Are You a Video Game Parent?

Some people are always going to think that video games are not good for kids and all that hoopla, but I assure you that there is absolutely nothing wrong with video games, and it's a great way to spend time with your kids. I'm proud to say I'm a video game parent, and no I don't think that's an actual thing.

Naturally, my kids were bound to like video games, as I have always played video games, and they've seen me over the years and they were always curious about what I was playing, so why not let them have a little fun right? We haven't reached the point where they can beat me yet, but in my defense, I'm really, really good at Mario-Kart.
