The 20 Most Valuable Video Games That Could Be Hiding in Your Closet | Mental Floss

Even as video game technology progresses, you may find it hard to let go of the old-school cartridges that got you through childhood (even if you did have to occasionally blow into them to get them to work). Depending on which games you have in your collection, that sentimentality could pay off. Some video games that were popular in the 1990s and 2000s are worth hundreds of dollars today.

The esports betting site Unikrn put together this list of the 10 most valuable video games from the early days of home consoles. If you played Mega Man V on the GameBoy in the 1990s , it's worth looking for the game in your attic. A complete, boxed version of the 1994 title is estimated to be worth $1000 in 2021. That's the most valuable older game on the list by far. Behind it is the Nintendo 64 game Worms Armageddon from 2000 valued at roughly $350.

Video Game Review: 'Kentucky Route Zero' : NPR

For years now, some of the best, wildest, most moving or revealing stories we've been telling ourselves have come not from books, movies or TV, but from video games. So we're running an occasional series, Reading The Game , in which we take a look at some of these games from a literary perspective.

Conway was lost. In a hundred different ways, he was lost. In the past, in his regrets, in the moment. He was quiet, resigned — a man worn down to a nub even in the opening minutes, but still, you know, there . Still trudging forward. Still trying to do his job and find his way.

5 Old Video Games That Have Aged Incredibly Well | Game Rant

Originally a budding medium of entertainment in the 1960s, video games have now evolved into a mammoth that has the potential to rake in more money than most forms of entertainment such as TV and movies. Over the years, the medium has evolved from saving a princess in a castle to creating unforgettable experiences via stellar visuals and storytelling.

While some games have been rendered mostly unplayable by modern standards, others still stand tall as being just as enjoyable as they were back in the day. Fans should however take note that the games featured here aren't definitively the best of the best, but a sum of their innovative mechanics at the time, their long-lasting appeal, and their current reception.

Bedford High School brings video games to the classroom

TEMPERANCE, Michigan (WTVG) - Bedford High School's newest athletic action doesn't take place on a court, a field, or a gym floor instead students battle in front of a screen.

"A lot of students who use video games as a hobby put as much time and effort in as any good football, basketball, or baseball player," said Bedford High School Esports Head Coach Mitchell Lestrange.

Lestrange a math and computer science instructor is the school's first-ever esports coach. Lestrange explains the video game competition consists of students playing a wide variety of games against other schools across the region and even the globe. Students will be able to participate and compete on the esports team by playing video game titles: "SMITE", League of Legends, and Rocket League.

Scientists teach pigs how to play a video game, and pigs are good at it - CNET

Yorkshire pigs Hamlet and Omelette and Panepinto micro pigs Ebony and Ivory are ambassadors for their species. The quartet was the focus of a study that tested whether they could learn to play a video game. Spoiler alert: They were pretty good at it.

The experiment involved first teaching the pigs how to manipulate a joystick using their snouts. They were then taught to use the joystick to play a video game on a monitor in front of them. The pigs aren't rescuing Princess Peach just yet, but they did show a remarkable ability to learn and operate the game.

In the '80s, she was a video game pioneer. Today, no one can find her - Polygon

Video game historian Kevin Bunch remembers sending a dozen letters over the mail in 2019, each one addressed to the same name. The white envelopes journeyed across different addresses in Texas, some reaching their destination safely, others coming back with a bright yellow note: "RETURN TO SENDER. ATTEMPTED — NOT KNOWN. UNABLE TO FORWARD."

But even the letters that made it didn't find their true target. The post may have been opened by people with the exact name Bunch had written down, sure, but they weren't the specific person he and many others have been trying to track down for over a decade now.
