Amazon’s new CEO says it’s not done making video games, despite problems - The Verge

"Being successful right away is obviously less stressful, but when it takes longer, it's often sweeter," Jassy continued. "I believe this team will get there if we stay focused on what matters most."

The message comes at a critical time for Amazon Game Studios, the e-commerce giant's video game development arm. The decision to set up the division reportedly came directly from outgoing Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who recently announced he is stepping down from the position later this year to be replaced by current Amazon Web Services head Andy Jassy.

How much video games is too much video games?

This might be surprising to hear from someone who writes a weekly column on video games, but I play a lot of video games.

Each year, Sony and Nintendo (and probably Microsoft, I just don't have an Xbox) send their players a wrap-up of their past year in gaming, and writing about that is usually one of my favorite columns each year.

Between the PlayStation 4 (I didn't get a PS5 until a couple of weeks ago) and the Nintendo Switch, I played 1,416 hours of video games in 2020, about 350 hours more than 2019. Most of that was on the PS4, 1,144 hours versus 272 on the Switch.

The Electronic Arts college football video game franchise, long beloved by sports fans but paused indefinitely years ago when it was swept up in wrangling over the rights of student-athletes, will be revived, the game maker said Tuesday.

E.A. Sports did not announce a timeline for the release of the game, which was last published in 2013, but Cam Weber, a top executive, said Tuesday that the company was "eager to bring a new game to players in the next couple of years."
