The child who was found dead in a hot car in Far North Queensland has been identified as three-year-old Rylee Rose Black.
Preliminary investigations indicate the young child was left inside a locked vehicle for most of the day, police said.
Queensland was in the grips of a heatwave at the time of the incident, with temperatures exceeding 32C in Townsville on Friday.

Princess Debutante Scholarship set to launch locally in January
After years of planning, a new debutante scholarship program will launch in Hot Springs in January, following an information session on Dec. 5.
The Princess Debutante Scholarship Program, which is being presented by Unlimited Resources, will allow 25 young women to participate in a debutante ball in June. The ladies will also participate in workshops from January through May.

Adrienne Conley, founder of Unlimited Resources, said the scholarships can be used at a community college, university or for vocation training.
