Kathy Jacobs says it's important not to discount people because of their age or height. She should know — the petite 56-year-old is a brand new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model.
Jacobs, from Calabasas, California, and who stands 5-foot-3-inches, hopes her appearance in the issue will help change readers' views of beauty.
"I'm just like so grateful that they took like a chance on me," says Jacobs. "Two things you can't change about yourself are how old you are and how tall you are."

Fox News: What compelled you to try out for the Sports Illustrated Swim Search?
Tanaye White: I first tried out two years ago in 2018. I made it into their [top] 16. But really, I tried out to begin with because I’ve always dreamed of being a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model. That’s something I’ve never said out loud to anyone before. It was just a low-key dream of mine. I then saw the open call for SI. I said to myself, “You know what? I think this is a sign.

When Tanaye White told her parents she was quitting her corporate job to pursue modeling full time, they were concerned and excited at the same time.

White is the only model in the swimsuit edition sporting her natural Afro, a choice she hopes shows other Black women they don't have to compromise their identity to be successful. She wants to promote more inclusion and diversity in magazines.
"There is such a strong need for more of it, even though the industry is making steps forward, there is still a long way to go," White said. "As one of the Black models in the magazine, I feel empowered to represent for women who have darker skin or kinkier hair."
