Kara Del Toro Flaunts Serious Cleavage In A Slinky Red Dress

Maxim bombshell Kara Del Toro thrilled her 1.6 million Instagram followers with her latest share, a gorgeous snap taken while she was out enjoying a meal. The image was captured at The Stonehaus restaurant at Westlake Village Inn. Kara made sure to tag the Instagram pages of both places in the caption as well as in the picture itself so her followers knew where to find the spot.

She sat at a worn wooden table, and there was a mixture of greenery and trees in the background that added to the serene vibe of the shot. On the table in front of her, there was a small charcuterie board with a variety of meats, cheeses, pear slices and a trio of olives in a small container. She held a wine glass in one hand.

D614G mutation enhances stability of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein

The rapid rise to dominance of the D614G spike mutation-carrying strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus wherever it has emerged worldwide has spurred much research into the possible survival advantage associated with this genetic variant.

A new study, published on the preprint server bioRxiv * in November 2020 by researchers at the Indian Institute of Science, has explored this issue further. The researchers have found that this mutation is associated with structural and energetic changes that cause this spike variant to become more available during infection, thus rendering the associated strain more infective.

New CRISPR Baby Risk: Chromosome Loss

Responsible scientists insist that the genome editing of human embryos presents unacceptable risks, if only because it can bring about subtle—but still deleterious—off-target effects. One wonders what these scientists would say if they learned that gene editing could wreak harms that were anything but subtle, harms as catastrophic as the loss of an entire chromosome.

Such large-scale damage was found in a study that analyzed human embryos that had been edited with CRISPR-Cas9. The study, from Columbia University Irving Medical Center, showed that applying CRISPR-Cas9 to repair a blindness-causing gene early in the development of a human embryo often eliminates an entire chromosome or a large section of it.
