Hemlines in retreat: why 2021 might be the year of the miniskirt

Scientists insist we'll all be wearing miniskirts by next March. Well, sort of. The much-debated hemline index claims that in times of economic upheaval, skirts almost always get shorter.

To back it up, in 2005, a team of British scientists published a paper showing that when the economy is in trouble, women's clothing apparently becomes more revealing. After two lockdowns and an expensive furlough scheme, it is looking likely that 2021 will be a year where the nation collectively tightens its belt - and rolls up its skirt, clearly.

Delete Jodel: The anonymous social media app is divisive and disrespectful - Hillsdale Collegian

Jodel aims to be the social media platform "that tamed the trolls." At Hillsdale College, however, Jodel is a toxic cesspool that poisons the student body. Students should quit the mischief and delete the app.

Here is how the German-based platform works: log on, and the location of the user determines what posts the user can see. Users can post videos, conduct polls, or just "jodel" their thoughts, anonymously. They can also "up tick" posts they like or "down tick" posts they dislike. This activity then builds their "karma," a score that determines how positive a user is.
