He’s been cutting two records, one in Spanish, the other in English. Playing a little golf, too. And he checked on the grape harvest in the pre-fire Napa Valley for his eponymous wine company .
But during the pandemic, Motown legend Smokey Robinson is performing only one concert — Saturday in a virtual gala for the PACER Center , the Bloomington-based nonprofit that works with children with disabilities and combats bullying. It will be a streamed performance.

Society Las Olas sculpture a new Fort Lauderdale landmark - South Florida Sun-Sentinel
New River dog-walkers and exercisers likely have been wondering: Who's that mystery girl lying in chaotic state — massive head here, hands beckoning over there — outside the new Society Las Olas apartments in downtown Fort Lauderdale?
She is a rustic 14-ton, 27-foot tall sculpture called "Thrive," being assembled now and likely to become the newest Instagram landmark in the city when formally unveiled on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Her pieces, made of glass-fiber-reinforced concrete, have been visible for the past week in a covered breezeway on the east side of the hip residential building, facing the frisky riverfront entertainment destination the Wharf.
Kate Middleton was still pining for her first love as she headed to Florence on her gap year |
As a put-down, it could scarcely have been more withering. It was May 2007 and Kate and Pippa Middleton , as they mixed in aristocratic circles, were dubbed The Wisteria Sisters. 'They're highly decorative, terribly fragrant and have a ferocious ability to climb,' was one mocking taunt.
Underpinning this bitchy barb was the implication the Middleton girls were getting above their station.
'It was like something from a Jane Austen novel,' recalled a family friend. 'Would they have been insulted like that if they were ordinary-looking or weren't being feted in the media? I doubt it. As well as blatant snobbery, it was also motivated by old-fashioned jealousy.'
