The legendary magazine announced its inaugural partnership with Venus Fashion on Monday, hyping the collection as “new and inclusive” on Twitter.
2020 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Features This History-Making Model
The debut Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue hit newsstands in February 1964. Editor Andre Laguerre discovered when the sports calendar slowed during the winter months; he could fill that chilly void with photos of warm destinations and hot women, and readers would enjoy it. He was right.
Since that first issue, it’s regularly appeared at newsstands each February up until last year, when it came out for the first time in May. In 1997, Sports Illustrated transformed the special edition from a section within an issue into its own stand-alone issue, separate from the weekly magazine.
