In case you are keeping track:

'Ghost of Tsushima' was a battleground for criticism and fan reaction - The Washington Post

As far back as 2018, the writer Kyle Bradford was skeptical about "Ghost of Tsushima." When the game was shown at that year's E3 conference, he vented on Twitter, wondering aloud about how the game's developer, Bellevue, Washington-based Sucker Punch Productions, might handle the story. Historically informed by the 1274 Mongol invasion of the Japanese island of Tsushima, "Ghost of Tsushima" is the tale of a lone warrior's quest to expel invaders from the warrior's ancestral homeland.

Two years later, shortly after "Tsushima's" global release, reviews of the game were published in Japan. Excerpts of these reviews were then translated and published in Kotaku. This time, new tweets from Bradford critiquing the discourse surrounding the game attracted far more attention — and most of it expressly negative.

While you're here, how about this:

How Among Us became a global video game phenomenon — Quartz

When it launched, only about 30 users were playing the game at any given time. It was a small, independently developed game that seemed destined to fade into obscurity, like so many others have before it. But because of a variety of factors—including the ease of learning it, and the coronavirus pandemic forcing quarantined consumers to find new ways to interact with their friends—the game has completely taken off.

Among Us became so popular during the pandemic that InnerSloth canceled plans for a sequel and will instead add all of the new content intended for the sequel into the existing game. (The company is now rewriting the code so it can handle it all.)

Video Game Bucs' season mirrored actual games | Sports | heraldstandard.com

The Pittsburgh Pirates' 2020 season mercifully came to a close Sunday with an 8-6 loss to the playoff-bound Cleveland Indians.

The Pirates again allowed a lead — this time it was 6-2 in the sixth inning — to slip away and waste a decent pitching performance with a dreadful showing by the bullpen.

The Buccos finished the worst record in baseball, 19-41, for a .317 winning percentage under rookie manager Derek Sheldon. The Pirates had a slightly better record last year at 69-93 (.416).

35 Thoughts About Mario on Super Mario's 35th Anniversary - The New York Times

Almost exactly 35 years ago, Super Mario Bros., the iconic video game from Nintendo, debuted — making a high-jumping plumber named Mario the Japanese video game company's equivalent of Mickey Mouse.

Back in 1985, Super Mario Bros. was revelatory. The game, which popularized Nintendo's first home console, the Nintendo Entertainment System, played like a challenging, dreamlike cartoon that scrolled across a TV screen. Players controlled Mario, making him run, jump or sometimes swim through levels filled with giant mushrooms, menacing turtles and other strange obstacles. It was a tough game, but not too tough to discourage its avid players from giving it another try. And another. And
