According to a report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, shots were fired at the home on College Circle South, and the boy was struck Aug. 1 while lying in bed .

"It's scary. It's very terrifying because we don't know if it's a case where they may try to come back or if it was just accidental. It's just terrifying," Davis said.

It's not just Twitch: The military has a history of using video games to reach young people - Vox

The US military is trying to get people interested in enlisting with the help of Twitch, a highly popular video game streaming platform — so civilian gamers are now using government-moderated chat rooms as an opportunity to troll the military.

In response, the military banned users from its chat rooms, a move that's been called out as an act of government censorship . "That's yet to be adjudicated in a court of law," Gault said.

Others are taking note of these Twitch streams, too — and taking action. In July, US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a known gamer , proposed an amendment to a House appropriations bill that would have permanently prevented the military from spending part of its budget on Twitch.

Apple's Fortnite feud and Microsoft xCloud ban have put the future of iPhone gaming in jeopardy -

Apple has always had a complicated relationship with the game industry, but this month that relationship slid into a bitter and very public legal and regulatory war that could shape the future of iPhone apps. The first escalation occurred when Apple laid out in clear terms why it has no plans to ever approve cloud gaming services from its tech rivals Google and Microsoft .

The company is also suing Google on similar grounds, after Google removed Fortnite from its Play Store. But as Epic made clear in an unprecedented video mocking Apple's iconic "1984" Macintosh ad — one that also aired directly to players within the virtual world of Fortnite itself — the primary target here is Apple and its longstanding and often controversial stewardship of the iOS app ecosystem.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Remaster warehouse demo impressions - The Washington Post

I forgot that a "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" run lasts only two minutes. But you only need two minutes to decide whether the upcoming remaster will be good. It's going to be fantastic.

It's a genius move to break out the Warehouse level, the same area that the first PlayStation players tried in the "Jampack" demo disc of the summer of 1999 . It's a nuclear bomb of nostalgia, skating in that brown first area with Goldfinger's "Superman" blaring upstroke after upstroke of last-century ska punk.

After a Flop, Amazon Makes Another Foray Into Video Games - The New York Times

BERKELEY, Calif. — Amazon stumbled as it worked to break into the lucrative video game industry. Now it's trying again.

On Monday, Amazon announced Prime Gaming, which is essentially a rebranding of its Twitch Prime service that provides exclusive game content. Just over a month ago, the company pulled its original big-budget game, Crucible, from digital store shelves after it was panned as a "hollow and forgettable experience."

Larry Plotnick, Prime Gaming's director, said the gaming service started in 2016 with Twitch's name attached because it was well known among gamers. But he said Amazon now believed that its own name carried significant weight.
