Milwaukee is a leading character in Christina Clancy's 'The Second Home'

Christina Clancy has cleverly smuggled a story about Milwaukee into "The Second Home," her new novel about a family's summer place on Cape Cod.

In "The Second Home," which was getting a strong promotional push prior to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the Gordons are an east-side Milwaukee family: dad Ed and mom Connie, sisters Ann and Poppy, and Michael, the recently orphaned teenage classmate of Ann whom the Gordons have decided to adopt. Ed and Connie are the kind of people who would do that; he's a popular history teacher at Riverside High School.
