Wisconsin Badgers video games: Jonathan Taylor leading the Heisman race - Bucky's 5th Quarter

After mopping the floor with a sorry Eastern Michigan squad , the virtual Wisconsin Badgers (4-0 overall, 1-0 B1G) had a bye week before resuming conference play at ::OMINOUS MUSIC:: Northwestern. Before the bye week, the Badgers stayed put at No. 11 in the polls somehow still two spots behind a Michigan team that they waxed earlier in the season.
The Gophers, Badgers and Huskers are all tied for the B1G West lead, although Minnesota is 2-0 in conference while Wisconsin and Nebraska are only 1-0, so they should get the nod on actually being in "first" place. Michigan and Penn State lead the B1G East with a record of 1-1. No other B1G East team has a conference win so far, lmao.
Can a video game really help you get fit? | NME

With many of us spending much more time indoors, more of us are turning to games like 'Ring Fit Adventure' to keep active. But do they work? We investigate…
T his was going to be the year. The year I finally stopped making excuses, stopped eating chips for breakfast (that has never happened, but there's been similar atrocities) started going to the gym and lost some weight. And then COVID-19 happened. Still, at least it stopped me going to the chip shop.
Video Game Competitions Thrive Under Coronavirus Lockdowns : NPR

For millions of college students around the country, coronavirus lockdowns effectively canceled their hobbies and extracurriculars. But that's not the case for Madison Cragle, a graphic design major at the State University of New York at Canton. She's co-captain of her school's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team — an esports team. That's right, varsity video games.
"There's a joke going around that once the quarantine ends, everyone's going to be like a thousand times better because we have nothing else to do," Cragle says. Besides all the extra practice time, right now, Cragle's actually playing in a tournament alongside hundreds of her fellow students. The $20,000 prize pool will go to a SUNY student emergency aid fund, medical research, personal protective equipment and student scholarships.

Sports column: Sports video games have been with us a long time - The Vicksburg Post | The

Like a lot of Americans, when the college and pro sports leagues went on their COVID-19-induced walkabout this spring, I filled their absence with my own leagues.
As I'm playing the games, the sports writer in me comes out and I sometimes have virtual press conferences in my head. Why did you leave that pitcher in so long? Why didn't you pinch-hit for that guy in the seventh inning?
I've been playing sports video games for more than 30 years now, from the awful 4-bit blobs of the Atari 2600 to the razor-sharp graphics of the PS4. There have been some good ones and some bad ones, some classics I never got to and some I spent way too much time with.

If you're like Alex Wang, you spent the bulk of your childhood and teenage years playing video games. You owned every gaming console, from Nintendo to Xbox, PlayStation, and everything in between, and you enjoyed beating all challengers. To this day, you humbly brag that you've mastered each game you've touched — sometimes in as little as a few hours.
* * *
The funny thing is, that's exactly what Wang did. After managing a few gamer teams in high school and competing in online tournaments, he left college in New York and moved to Texas to work for Infinite Esports & Entertainment in Frisco. At the time, the company was a major player in the video game industry, and esports — a form of competitive, multiplayer video game competitions — had already earned global attention among professional fanatics eager to take their game to the next level.
