Most of the words that follow aren't necessary to see why the reveal of Unreal Engine 5, an Epic Games video game graphics engine set for release in 2021, blew up the internet last week.
You can watch the following video, know that this is a demo of a video game and not footage of anything real, forget the technical aspects being discussed, and simply see that video game graphics are about to take a big leap forward.

The current generation of gaming consoles, including Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One, are now using seven-year-old hardware technologies, first released in 2013. Both Sony and Microsoft are releasing their newest generation of consoles this year. For this demo, Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, credits the upcoming PlayStation 5 , the system being used, for providing the capabilities to render much of the scene.

Sidequest meaning: How a video game chore became a cinematic storytelling technique
Sometimes the most memorable part of a video game, movie, or show isn't the main story, it's the weird tangent a character takes in the middle of their journey.
These deviations from the main plot — or sidequests — might seem like a waste of time, or maybe even feel like a drag as your turn in your umpteenth fetch quest in World of Warcraft . But sidequests are how video game developers and movie directors make the worlds they create feel like real places, and not just a story on rails.

Doom Eternal rules. It's very much in the vein of the Doom reboot that launched in 2016, but that's a good thing. We say it's the most metal game ever made .
Endless online discourse about its difficulty aside, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is another masterpiece from Dark Souls creator From Software.
"Witcher" is a monstrously good game-to-TV adaptation that works | Reviews |
I don't think I'm alone when I say movie adaptations of video games never work out. 2016's "Assassin's Creed" is a recent example of what happens when the naturally open-ended and decision-based experience of a video game is put into a linear form of media.
To give an example, let's say if someone said: "Hey, dude! You know Risk, right? They made a movie version of it!" Well, you aren't going to exactly be lining up to see the midnight release of it.

Pac-Man at 40: The eating icon that changed gaming history
(CNN) -- When "Pac-Man" debuted in Tokyo 40 years ago, no one could have predicted it would become the most successful arcade game of all time.
Though video games were a relatively new medium, the recipe for success at the time was already well-established: People wanted to shoot things.
But the creator of "Pac-Man," a young game designer named Toru Iwatani, wanted to try something completely different.
Iwatani had little experience. He was just 25, and preferred working on pinball machines, not video games. His first title, 1978's "Gee Bee," was essentially a digital version of pinball and wasn't particularly successful. There was little indication that his next project would change video game history forever.
4 Manga & Anime That Would Make GREAT Video Games | CBR
Considering how many expansive worlds and compelling characters there are in manga/anime, it's surprising how few game adaptions have done justice to them as source material. Many well-known properties like Attack on Titan , Dragon Ball, and My Hero Academia have already had video game spinoffs of varying quality. But which of Japan's lesser-known properties could -- and should -- make even better ones?

Even though Dorohedoro 's world deals heavily with magic, many of the fights feel more like intense street brawls rather than flashy displays of spells and mysticism. With that in mind, a game adaptation should feel like the intense and dramatic action/open-world games of Yakuza , developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.

According to Ben Fischer of Sports Business Daily , the proposed contract would extend the exclusive arrangement between the NFL and EA Sports through the 2025 season.
