I t has been one of the many cruel ironies of lockdown: we all have time to read more, but the constant uncertainty and worry, together with the endlessly transmogrifying news narrative, have made it difficult to concentrate on novels.
A few keen readers have turned to essay collections, short stories or diaries, which are less demanding on the memory and attention, but video games may also offer a way back into reading during these difficult times. Here are 12 interesting puzzle and adventure games that play with words, text and narratives in innovative ways, which may well guide you back into a reading frame of mind.

It's Fine to Play Lots of Video Games in Quarantine | Time
What I can do is play video games. Lots of video games. Something about gaming has been more engaging than reading, giving me that escape I so badly need right now. Over the past few weeks, the Final Fantasy VII Remake , Call of Duty: Warzone , Red Dead Redemption 2 , and Fallout 76 have consumed the hours I used to set aside for reading and other activities, like spending time with friends in person.
“Accumulating evidence suggests that playing video games isn’t really associated with negative outcomes,” says Chris Ferguson , an associate professor and department chair of psychology at Stetson University. He notes that it’s still important for adults and children alike to exercise and get their work and chores done.

What impact is COVID-19 having on video game deals? | Opinion | GamesIndustry.biz
Amid the unprecedented disruption to the global economy caused by COVID-19, the video games sector has shown signs of resilience as both pre-existing and new deals continue to progress.
This remains a challenging time for businesses across the digital media sectors, particularly as film and television productions and sports fixtures are cancelled or postponed.
However, video games businesses are comparatively well-placed to press ahead with their work, with most development studios having switched very effectively to working from homes (although some contractual issues around confidentiality and security have needed to be addressed, and some logistical difficulties with processes like motion capture and voiceover recordings may slow down the development process).
Favorite Video Games in My Collection
One of my hobbies is collecting video games. Now, I'm not looking to collect every video game made for every system, I simply don't have the room. Plus, I don't have a real connection to most of them. But what I do have has a story or long hours of play time with.
I picked up a Sony PlayStation in 1999 and was hooked ever since. I've owned every PlayStation system since then and still own all four of the systems.
I have three main spots where I pick up the games for my collection, Game XChange and EntertainMart in Tyler and lukiegames.com . I stop into each store just about every weekend to see if there is something new to add. Enjoy the gallery of my favorite games from my collection below.
Online Multiplayer Video Games Surge, Sports Website Usage Declines Amid COVID-19
What three items would you bring with you on a deserted island? If current events are teaching us anything, it’s that it might be toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and a Nintendo Switch.
If you’re like many people sheltering-in-place, you may be turning to online multiplayer video games for entertainment and social interaction. Then again, you may just be tuning in to watch others play.
The Nintendo Switch is so popular right now that it is nearly impossible to purchase , and where it is available, it’s much more expensive than suggested retail. The odd thing about this, though, is that it’s not a newly released video console. It’s been selling since 2017.
The joy of made-up American names from the video game MLBPA Baseball.
For those of us who spend too much time online, most jokes are ephemeral. Amazing commentary on a current event is rendered obscure just days later; as the years pass, even hilarious memes that seemed to have staying power grow stale. Just a handful of things I've seen online over the years have really stuck with me and made me laugh every time.
apropos of absolutely nothing at all, here is one of my all-time favorite things: a list of american baseball player names japanese engineers made up for the 1994 super famicom (SNES) fighting baseball game pic.twitter.com/9gyB2C5h8h
