Leaks happen frequently in the video game industry, and they have varying levels of severity. There's a difference between say, datamining a new Fortnite skin a couple hours before release, and breaking a review embargo to reveal secret Pokémon ahead of the debut of Sword and Shield .
The latter is exactly what happened last year when images of new, unannounced Pokémon started to leak out online. Today, that story has resurfaced as Nintendo has identified the culprit behind the leaks and publicly blacklisted them.
Many things are taking place:
The Best Video Games to Play When You're Lonely
The first and most obvious choice of game to try if you're feeling a bit lonely is a massively multiplayer title. With thousands of people playing in vast, virtual worlds across hundreds of servers, you're bound to find three things: an activity you enjoy doing, people who also enjoy doing that activity, and a way for all of you to coordinate doing that activity together in the future.
If MMOs aren't your bag—and that's fair, because they can be complex and soul-sucking—consider a game that simply has a strong (but not overwhelming) multiplayer component. Better still if the game already forces you to work together with other people, or makes it painfully easy to do so.
Game while you wait: Nintendo is bringing a Switch video game pop-up to Dallas Love Field
Nintendo is trying to take a little of the tedium out of waiting for a flight by bringing a Switch gaming system pop-up event to Dallas Love Field starting Thursday.
The video game maker will open an "On the Go" lounge to Dallas Love Field from Feb. 13 through March 26, one of four airports to feature the event.
The pop-up will provide "comfortable seating" and charging ports along with handheld gaming systems and TV versions. It will also feature games such as Mario Kart 8, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Tetris 99.
DARPA wants commanding robots to work like a video game
In a fake city in Mississippi, DARPA is training robots for war. In December 2019, at a camp southeast of Hattiesburg, hundreds of robots gathered to scout an urban environment, and then convert that scouting data into useful information for humans.
The real-time nature of the information is vital to the vision of OFFSET. It is one thing to operate from existing maps, and another entirely to operate from recently mapped space , with continuing situational awareness of possible threats and other movement through the space.

How Artificial Intelligence Could Help Video Gamers Create the Exact Games They Want to Play |
The history of AI and that of gaming are inexorably intertwined. Early AI researchers saw games like chess as markers of intelligence, and thus perfect testing grounds for their work. “One of the very earliest things that people tried to do with this sort of burgeoning field was get it to play chess and get to play chess well, and, obviously, that eventually happened with Deep Blue ,” says Matthew Guzdial, an AI researcher and assistant professor at the University of Alberta.
'Parasite' and '1917' show how video games influence prestige movies - Los
A video game has yet to win an Academy Award, but that doesn't mean the influence of the interactive medium wasn't felt at this year's Oscars. Consider that two of the awards season's most talked-about films — Oscar's big winner "Parasite" and the World War I quest film "1917" — show the ascendancy of interactive entertainment.

While "1917" has occasionally been derided as a video game, largely due to its free-flowing, often third-person camera, the rise of games as a cultural force is also having a more subtle narrative impact as generations weaned on interactive entertainment begin to more regularly mold our content, either by creating it or by choosing what to consume.
Virus video games are suddenly more popular than ever - Marketplace
Jack Stewart: Are there any ways in which video games could be educational if there are that many people turning to them at the moment?
Garsd: Actually, with the game Plague Inc., James Vaughan, the founder of Ndemic Creations, did a lot of research about epidemiology, and the CDC expressed interest in what applications — real-world applications and educational applications — these games could have. There’s also an incident that I’m totally fascinated by.
Those who blame video games should try them | VN
Recently, Fortnite was banned from varsity esports programs in Kentucky by the state’s athletic association.
After reading the article, I thought about some of the closest friends I’ve met through gaming.

I’ve played the game for hours on end because I enjoyed playing it – together, with others.
The esports teams in Kentucky now have one less game to play because people wrongfully believe that these players aren’t just having fun.
