Disney — the folks behind "Star Wars," Mickey Mouse, Disneyland, everything Marvel, ESPN, and hundreds of other iconic characters — instead licenses its incredibly successful properties out to other companies. It still makes mobile games, but Disney's out of the "big" game business; the stuff most people play on stuff like the PlayStation 4 and PC.
Across the past few years, that approach has seen massive success with two games in particular: 2018's "Marvel's Spider-Man" and 2019's "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order."

What the CEO of Epic Games gets wrong about video games and politics | Ars Technica
Sweeney is trying to walk a thin tightrope here, allowing for wide-ranging individual expression as a platform holder while trying to maintain political silence as a corporate entity. But those dueling principles can come into inherent conflict because producing and selling games, like producing and selling any other work of art, involves any number of inherently political choices and expressions.
Despite some reporting, a close reading of Sweeney's statements doesn't suggest a hardline stance on the role of politics in games. His take is actually a pretty nuanced attempt to balance a lot of competing factors of individual and collective self-expression.
Video games, TV and computers stolen from Dream Center - News - Journal Star - Peoria, IL
PEORIA — Several computer and other electronic devices were stolen from the Dream Center in Downtown Peoria sometime last weekend.
According to a report filed at the Peoria Police Department, the break-in was discovered at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. An employee said the last time they were in the building, 714 Hamilton Blvd., was Saturday morning and nothing amiss was noticed.
A wad of paper near a door on the northeast side of the building was found, leading the employee to speculate that it was used to prop the door open for the thieves to come in and take things.
Video games are even influencing prestige filims
A video game has yet to win an Academy Award, but that doesn't mean the influence of the interactive medium wasn't felt at this year's Oscars. Consider that two of the awards season's most talked-about films — Oscar's big winner "Parasite" and the World War I quest film "1917" — show the ascendancy of interactive entertainment.
* * *
While "1917" has occasionally been derided as a video game, largely due to its free-flowing, often third-person camera, the rise of games as a cultural force is also having a more subtle narrative impact as generations weaned on interactive entertainment begin to more regularly mold our content, either by creating it or by choosing what to consume.

IRS backtracks on whether video game currencies are taxable - The Verge
On Wednesday, the IRS quietly changed a provision on its website that said transactions of virtual currency like Fortnite's V-bucks were taxable and may have to be reported on tax returns, as reported by CNN .
The provision had been on the IRS's website since at least October, and you can see it right here , thanks to the Wayback Machine. On the archived version of the site, bitcoin, Ether, Roblox (likely referring to Ro bux from the game Roblox ), and V-bucks are listed as specific examples of a "convertible virtual currency." The IRS defines a convertible virtual currency as one that has an equivalent value to or acts as a substitute for real currency.
Terrifying video game moments that shook us to the core
While video games sometimes go too far , featuring elements that are in extremely poor taste, other encounters are brilliantly designed. Devious game developers continue to push the envelope, with some establishing themselves as masters of the art of freaking players out.

These scenes sit in the back of your mind and rear their snarling heads whenever you think about a particular game. You know you love to fear them. There be monsters (and spoilers) ahead.
