After greeting Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump, robot Mitra has been signed up by a Chinese banking chain The time is right for startups to enter the global robotics arena because now, software innovation is as important as hardware
Not to change the topic here:
Funding gap slows down startups aiming for global robotics club
India is known more for its software prowess than hardware So it seems counter-intuitive that the country can become a hub for making robots
Oh great, that robot dog the internet freaked out over has joined a police squad – BGR
At this point, Boston Dynamics’ robot dog Spot is an expert in effortlessly ginning up virality and setting the internet abuzz over videos of its latest exploits. We’ve covered many of those developments here, from the time the robot was able to start opening doors to its ability to do parkour — the viral gold that memes are made of.
Now, this very good (albeit also terrifying) boy is at it again. It seems the robot dog is now an official member of the Massachusetts State Police’s bomb squad , which, of course, begs the question: Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when the unstoppable canine cop gets sicced on you?
"We are not robots" — Amazon workers stage large-scale protests across U.K.
Labor rights activists and climate campaigners across Europe used the occasion of Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year, to call attention to Amazon's " appalling " working conditions, paltry benefits and destructive environmental practices.
"Workers are breaking bones, being knocked unconscious, and being taken away in ambulances," said Mick Rix, national officer with the GMB Union, which organized demonstrations at Amazon warehouses across the United Kingdom on Friday.

Flexoskeleton printing: Fabricating flexible exoskeletons for insect-inspired robots
Insects typically have a variety of complex exoskeleton structures, which support them in their movements and everyday activities. Fabricating artificial exoskeletons for insect-inspired robots that match the complexity of these naturally-occurring structures is a key challenge in the field of robotics.
With this in mind, researchers at the University of California in San Diego have recently developed a new process to design and fabricate components for insect-inspired robots with exoskeleton structures. They introduced this process, called flexoskeleton printing, in a paper prepublished on arXiv .
Carroll County school system wants to put a robotics team in every school - Carroll County Times
Students in Carroll County Public Schools have long had opportunities to join teams for athletics and performance. In the next two years, though, CCPS hopes to have a robotics competition team in every school.
After a few months of working to scale up robotics programs countywide, half of CCPS schools are represented with a robotics team, Jason Anderson, chief academic, equity and accountability officer for CCPS, said during a presentation to the Board of Education on Nov. 13.
Grocery-carrying robots are coming. Do we need them?
BOSTON (AP) — The first cargo-carrying robot marketed directly to consumers is on sale this holiday season. But how many people are ready to ditch their second car to buy a two-wheeled rover that can follow them around like a dog?
Corporate giants like Amazon , FedEx and Ford have already been experimenting with sending delivery robots to doorsteps. Now Piaggio, the Italian company that makes the Vespa scooter, is offering a stylish alternative to those blandly utilitarian machines — albeit one that weighs 50 pounds (23 kilograms) and costs $3,250.
