Video games that may improve your health - Big Think

According to a 2019 report by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), over 164 million adults play video games and three-quarters of all American households have at least one gamer inside. While the average gamer is 33 years old, 21 percent of gamers are over 50. Reasons vary from leisurely fun, to spending time with younger relatives, curing boredom, and improving mental dexterity.

According to the EPA report, Baby Boomer gamers (ages 55 to 64) are really into virtual board games and the classics like Monopoly and Scrabble . This pack is available for Xbox and PS4 and also contains Solitaire and Risk .

Dear video game players, please figure out how food works

The incredibly broad group of people who like playing video games, dubbed "gamers" by corporations eager to create a catchy marketing shorthand, are often treated with derision, even as times have changed and games are now embraced as just another aspect of the modern media landscape.

Best Movies About Video Games, Ranked | Collider

There’s a Bunch of New Pics from Something Called ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’

* * *

We've got plenty of "video game movies." Movies, like the much-maligned Super Mario Bros. or objectively-the-best-movie-ever-made Mortal Kombat , that adapt the world and characters of a video game and present a cinematic take on its narrative. What we lack are "movies about video games." Movies that tackle one of our most important mediums of entertainment as a subject worth reckoning with, rather than more IP to plunder.

How video games gave me a foundation of acceptance growing up autistic

When I was little and unable to speak, my dad and one of my adult cousins turned on the television alongside a black box I eventually discovered was a Sega Genesis. I would watch my dad control a blue creature who whizzed by onscreen and I would hear high-pitched dings to signal the collection of gold rings. The grown-ups navigated a brightly colored world on the TV, which sparked my curiosity.

My silent fascination with video games must have been visible — when I was 4, I was mesmerized by my very own atomic purple Game Boy Color and spent hours playing Super Mario Bros. Deluxe and Pokémon Crystal. Mashing buttons to reach the next level or developing a strategy to become a top Pokémon trainer felt like second nature in a world I did not always fit into.

Blockchain could be a boon for musicians, filmmakers and video game creators | About Verizon

A year ago, Brooklyn-based producer and rapper Julian Xtra was looking for ways to connect with a new audience. Facebook and Instagram had been worthy distribution points, but their algorithms' continual changes made it hard to find new listeners.

Admittedly obsessed with cryptocurrency and blockchain, Xtra joined Vezt, which enables the artists, songwriters, and producers direct access to funding from their fans in exchange for royalties. After an "Initial Song Offering" to raise money, Vezt helps distribute artists' songs on digital platforms and promote the content.
