The addictive nature of video games, designed to keep players in the game for as long as possible, may make investors happy, but some are now warning that a regulatory crackdown could be coming for the industry.
In a new research report, Jefferies said that a growing emphasis on the side effects from hours spent gaming — fueled by design features that encourage users to stay in the game — could lead to increased oversight and headwinds for gaming companies.

'Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order' Is a Great Star Wars Video Game | Time
I’m liberating the Wookie planet Kashykk from its Imperial oppressors. AT-ATs plod through the planet’s largest river and I swim up to its leg, scale the side of metallic beast and drop into its body through a hole on top. Inside, I come face to mask with Stormtroopers wielding stun batons. They’re the best the Empire has to offer, but I’m a Jedi.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a new video game developed by Respawn Entertainment— the team behind Apex Legends and the Titanfall series —and published EA. It’s out now on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Fallen Order is a third person action game where players control KCalestis, a Jedi struggling to rebuild the Jedi Order after the events of the film Episode III: Revenge of the Sith .
Why More Stars Are Joining Video Games (It's Not Just a Paycheck) | Hollywood Reporter
Crowded into the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 9, thousands of video game fans erupted into applause when Polish studio CD Projekt Red debuted a trailer for its new title, Cyberpunk 2077 . That reception was just a preamble, however, for a starrier reveal: Keanu Reeves. The actor quickly became a trending topic across social media after a digital version of his scruffy visage appeared on the screens surrounding the stage.
The moment may mark a notable shift in gaming, a coming out for an already $43 billion industry that is challenging established media genres like film and television by attracting A-list talent. The John Wick actor is far from alone.

How to build the perfect set-up for video games | Games | The Guardian
W hether you're a PC, console or smartphone gamer, there's a wealth of accessories that promise to improve your experience – and your score. But from mechanical keyboards to high dynamic range monitors the choices and jargon can be confusing. Here is our selection of the best gaming peripherals, whatever you play on.
As for the monitor, this will depend on your budget and the specifications of your PC. If you have a monster graphics card you might be tempted by a 4K ultrawide behemoth (which will certainly make you future-proof as more games support 4K going onwards), but that will cost way over £1,000. Most gamers will be happy with a 27-inch 1080p or 1440p display (with 1,080 and 1,440 vertical pixels respectively).
15 Years Later, November 2004 Might Still Be One Of The Best Months In Video Game History
The end of the year is usually when some of the biggest and most anticipated games of the year finally release. So it isn't unusual for a month like November or October to have two or even three blockbuster games dropping all in the same week. It happens.

A few days later, on November 4th, The Legend Of Zelda The Minish Cap was released and received a lot of praise from critics at the time. Gamespot gave it a 9.1, praising its visuals and music. The very next day, Bejeweled 2 was released for PC. This is a bonafide classic in my book and is still one of the best puzzle games out there.
Kings’ Dwayne Dedmon snags french fry from Lakers’ fan during game (VIDEO) –
Kings’ center Dwayne Dedmon was on the bench at one point Saturday night during the Kings’ loss to the Lakers, looked at the dude sitting next to him in fan seats (and look at that guy, he’s a “dude”), and asks if he can have a french fry.

A player like Dedmon burns a lot of calories during a game, you got to keep that energy level up with a few carbs. Plus, french fries are awesome. Can’t blame the guy.
Rare unveils Everwild, a new exclusive game for Xbox and Windows 10 - The Verge
British video game developer Rare, creator of classics like Battletoads , GoldenEye 007 , and Banjo-Kazooie , is revealing its next big game, Everwild , at Microsoft's X019 event today. Rare is only providing a small glimpse at Everwild , but the brief trailer makes it look like it's going to be some type of action adventure game.
Banjo-Kazooie fans will have been hoping for a sequel, or at least a new Banjo game, but Everwild looks more like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The world is full of different species of animals, all with Rare's classic cartoon-style look and feel. Rare and Microsoft haven't revealed much more about the game, nor when it will be released.
