Android users at risk of being hacked until completing new software update
We're just learning about it now though , because cyber security expert Paul Sems says the manufacturers were fixing it.

"Once they're publicly disclosed, then the world knows about it, and the bad guys can get in there and exploit those," he said.
Even though the latest holes were found in the Android software, Sems says Apple had a similar widespread attack through it's camera a few months ago.

A controversial activist is rallying other hackers to crack into scandal-ridden companies and spill their secrets — and offering cash rewards for the biggest leaks.
Phineas Fisher is offering up to $100,000 for damaging information about targets including U.S. oil company Halliburton and NSO Group, an Israeli firm that sells software to governments and that critics say helps authoritarian regimes stifle dissent. It's all part of a "Hacktivist Bug Hunting Program," as Vice's Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai reports.
Why Were the Russians So Set Against This Hacker Being Extradited? — Krebs on Security

On the surface, the charges the U.S. government has leveled against Burkov may seem fairly unremarkable: Prosecutors say he ran a credit card fraud forum called CardPlanet that sold more than 150,000 stolen cards.
However, a deep dive into the various pseudonyms allegedly used by Burkov suggests this individual may be one of the most connected and skilled malicious hackers ever apprehended by U.S. authorities, and that the Russian government is probably concerned that he simply knows too much.

Hacking and cyber espionage: The countries that are going to emerge as major threats in the 2020s
The continuing rise of state-backed hackers has been one of the most dramatic cybersecurity developments of recent years. And now it seems a new set of countries are keen to use the same tactics as some of their larger and more powerful rivals.
Cyber espionage has been going on pretty much since the dawn of the web, with Russia, China, Iran and North Korea generally seen as the countries most likely to be engaging in cyber-espionage campaigns against Western targets. Their Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) hacking groups target governments and organisations around the world.

Official Monero website is hacked to deliver currency-stealing malware | Ars Technica
An analysis of the malicious Linux binary found that it added a few new functions to the legitimate one. One of the functions was called after a user opened or created a new wallet. It sent the wallet seed—which is the cryptographic secret used to access wallet funds—to a server located at node.hashmonero[.]com. The malware then sent wallet funds to the servers located at node.xmrsupport[.]co and 45.9.148[.]65.
