Ukraine, Australia, Italy, and UK feature in Trump-backed conspiracies - Vox
President Donald Trump is embroiled in a major scandal that stretches from Ukraine to Australia — all stemming from his belief in long-debunked right-wing conspiracy theories
This idea stems from a conspiracy theory that has circulated in right-wing media for several years and has been thoroughly debunked
But new reporting this week reveals that this is not the only wacky right-wing internet conspiracy theory that Trump has latched on to and tried to enlist foreign help to investigate
We now know that a collection of these conspiracy theories has driven Trump to reach out to the governments of Australia, the United Kingdom, and Italy.

What is CrowdStrike? Explaining the firm linked to Trump-Ukraine call
“I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike…,” Trump told President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the document, which is not a verbatim recounting of the 30-minute phone call

The California-based firm traced the hacks of DNC servers during the contentious 2016 election back to a pair of hacker groups with suspected Russian ties
The discovery was among the early smoke signals in what would explode into the years-long probe of foreign interference in the election, led by special counsel Robert Mueller
“As you saw yesterday, that whole nonsense ended with a very poor performance by a man named Robert Mueller, an incompetent performance, but they say a lot of it started with Ukraine,” said Trump in the July 25 call, which came one day after Mueller testified before Congress.

The Aug. 12 complaint reviewed by Atkinson was addressed to the Republican head of the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Democratic head of the House Intelligence Committee, although it wasn't provided to them until this week. Schiff was adamant that the complaint be handed over to Congress, and he drew the ire of Trump and Republicans when he provided an exaggerated "parody" recounting of the Trump-Zelensky conversation during a Thursday hearing with Maguire. Republicans have alleged Schiff received the complaint in August, but there is currently no evidence of this.

Quite a lot has been going on:
Trump promotes conspiracy theory: Clinton's deleted emails are in Ukraine
He continued: "I would like to have the attorney general call you or your people and I would like you to get to the bottom of it
It's unclear exactly what Trump is getting at here, but the private phone call hints at several conspiracy theories he's raised in the past — and suggests that he still questions the FBI's conclusion that the Russians hacked the Democratic National Committee as part of Moscow's election interference efforts in 2016.
Barr's relationship with Trump called into question again by Ukraine call
Although Justice Department officials looking into a whistleblower complaint about the call ultimately decided that Trump's conduct did not rise to a criminal level, the memo of the call does reveal for the first time that Trump sought to use Barr, a taxpayer-paid government employee, to aid in the investigation of his political opponents
Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said in a statement on Wednesday that Barr was first notified of Trump's conversation with Zelenskiy when the Justice Department learned of the potential referral of the whistleblower complaint.
