When Top Gun Pilots Tangled With a Baffling Tic-Tac-Shaped UFO - HISTORY

It began as a routine naval training exercise. But it would soon become one of the best-documented—and most baffling— UFO sightings of the 21st century
Witnesses included highly trained military personnel—among them several deeply experienced radar operators and fighter pilots—who at the time of the sightings were at the controls of arguably the most advanced flight technology ever created! The date was November 14, 2004, and the location was the Pacific Ocean, about 100 miles southwest of San Diego, California

At about 2 p.m., two F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jets from the Nimitz received an unusual order from an operations officer aboard the Princeton. Already airborne, the pilots were told to stop their training maneuvers and proceed to new coordinates for a “real-world” task.

UFO Investigations: Revealing Documents from HISTORY's 'Unidentified' - HISTORY
Why did Luis Elizondo, director of the Pentagon's hush-hush program investigation UAPs, or unidentified aerial phenomena, step down from his post? "It was because of my allegiance to the Department of Defense and the American people," Elizondo told HISTORY
This map was adapted from a brief created for the Deputy Secretary of Defense in 2009. It gives a birds-eye view of the UFO activity near Department of Defense and foreign military facilities over the last several decades

Trump briefed on UFOs, but doesn't 'particularly' believe in them
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump doesn't seem to be a believer of aliens or ufo -over-los-angeles-red-bull-skydivers-mark-supermoon/3231421002/" target="_blank">UFOs flying through Earth's atmosphere , although he has been briefed on them
ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, in a wide-ranging interview , asked Trump about recent news reports about Navy pilots spotting flying objects and what he made of the apparent UFO sightings
"I want them to think whatever they think," Trump said, raising his eyebrows and slightly grinning before adding that he did have "one really brief meeting on it * * *

Stephanopoulos followed up, asking the president whether he thought he'd actually know if the U.S. had any proof of extraterrestrials — a question Trump didn't appear to actually answer directly

Trump's comments followed a number of reports chronicling how the government has examined UFO sightings and a report in the New York Times about Navy pilots reporting bizarre flying objects, including one that looked like a "spinning top" and another with no visible engine that could reach 30,000 feet and hypersonic speeds.

Navy withholding data on UFO sightings, congressman says - POLITICO
A top Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee is accusing the Navy of withholding information about reports of unidentified aircraft after officially requesting more data on the mysterious encounters
* * *

Navy Undersecretary Thomas Modly responded in a brief letter on July 31 that "the Department of the Navy takes these reports very seriously and continues to log sightings and fully investigate the accounts, But Walker said he is discouraged by the Navy's seeming unwillingness to provide his committee with more data about the so-called unidentified aerial phenomena — the term the Pentagon prefers over the more traditional "unidentified flying objects," or UFOs. He has expressed concern publicly that the craft could pose a threat to U.S. forces or territory

"While I am encouraged the Under Secretary of the Navy confirmed that UAP encounters are fully investigated, there is frustration with the lack of answers to specific questions about the threat that superior aircraft flying in United States airspace may pose," Walker told POLITICO in a statement.
