"As we quickly race towards a billion-dollar space economy, our relationship with CNES and other like-minded institutions around the globe will become even more crucial," Ross said in a statement.
While the declaration called for collaboration and the exchange of research and information, it also said both sides agreed that "at this time, international regulation of space is neither desirable nor necessary."
Since taking office in 2017, Ross has shown notable enthusiasm for the emerging industries outside the Earth's atmosphere.
Last month, he signed an agreement with Australia's space agency he said would facilitate "industry-to-industry" collaboration and advance American plans to return to the Moon by 2024 and advance exploration of Mars. Explore further

Solar phenomena—or space weather— such as solar flares, the solar wind, and geomagnetic storms of energized charged particles, however, can disrupt our ground and space-based technologies and infrastructure.

The crowd-sourced question popped up after the audience found that Wu Yanhua, vice administrator of China National Space Administration (CNSA) scheduled to speak at the IAC kickoff event on Monday with officials from five other national space agencies, was conspicuously absent.

NEW DELHI, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will carry along as many as 14 small foreign satellites in its next three PSLVs (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles) over the next two months, reliable sources close to ISRO confirmed on Thursday.

So far, the PSLV has launched around 300 mostly small (1kg-100kg) satellites to low-earth orbits for many foreign customers.
The three PSLV flights -- PSLV-C47, PSLV-C48 and PSLV-C49 -- would be sent in November and December. All these launch vehicles will carry one main payload of India, which are basically earth observation satellites, besides the 14 foreign satellites.

WASHINGTON — Leaders of several national space agencies endorsed continued cooperation in space exploration, including missions to the moon, and said that effort should not come into conflict with separate work to address climate change.
Speaking at a panel of agency leaders during the 70 th International Astronautical Congress here Oct. 21, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said he expected more countries to join the agency's return to the moon after commitments made earlier this year by Canada and last week by Japan.
"We need international partners. We can all do more when we work together," he said during a session that included representatives from Canada, Europe, India, Japan and Russia.
