In a 2019 meta-analysis published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science, Robbins and a colleague found that, of the 52 minutes a day on average the 467 subjects spent gossiping, three-quarters of that gossip was actually neutral! Stefon Diggs, Vikings WR, on trade gossip: 'Truth to all rumors'

Though he didn’t care to elaborate on reports that he might be seeking a trade from the Minnesota Vikings, wide receiver Stefon Diggs seemingly further fueled speculation that he wants out

It has turned into hours of daily gossip, opinion and wishful speculation on practically every NPR program throughout the day, as though continually talking about it will bring about the desired outcome or somehow "enlighten" a Republican's brain
