The Area 51 Raid Was the Worst Way to Spot an Alien or UFO | WIRED

Normally, when you turn onto Highway 375 from Crystal Springs, in Nevada, a big green road sign sits near picnic tables and shade trees baking under the relentless desert sun. EXTRATERRESTRIAL HIGHWAY, the sign reads, in a retro-futuristic font suggestive of a space computer! Oct 17, 2019 ...are so many eyes that the Air Force would be crazy to test anything actually advanced—it kind of makes a trip to Area 51 not very much like a trip to Area 51 . When my alarm goes off in the middle of the night, I can see headlights on Back Gate Road. ...!! This road was so named—around the time Independence Day came out—because it's the stretch of asphalt closest to Area 51. Many a curious visitor have traveled its miles, watching for jet tests and drone forays, hoping to see something they might later boast was a UFO. For decades, some have thought the secretive base holds not just jets within its boundaries but also maybe aliens and their technology! This, of course, is conspiracy theory, based on not much but strange aerodynamic sightings and the word of a man named Bob Lazar. But the region kind of embraces its notoriety with a wink-wink and a nudge-nudge.

Here's a believable explanation of those UFO videos released by the Navy - MarketWatch

Jurica Dujmović says a military patent could explain mysterious objects caught on video by a jet-fighter pilot

* * *

Last month the U.S. Navy confirmed that three videos of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) taken by airplane pilots a few years ago are indeed authentic. (Notice we're not saying "unidentified flying object," or UFO.) This means the videos went through the U.S. military, so it can be assumed they have not been computer-generated or altered.

Commander David Fravor, who flew one of the fighters in the video ("Gimbal"), describes the object as "Tic Tac"-shaped, 40-feet long, with no wings, exhaust or discernible propulsion! Alien Research Group Started by Blink-182 Singer Says It's Found 'Exotic UFO Material'

And he apparently now has something to show for it. In a recent Q&A with The New York Times , a reporter asked whether the group had obtained "exotic material samples from UFOs."

* * *

It's still unclear what precise materials the Academy has gotten its hands on, and whether they relate in any way to the three videos it obtained of "unidentified aerial phenomena" that a spokesperson for the Navy recently revealed to be legitimate.

"What we have been doing is trying to find the most qualified individuals at the most respectable institutions to conduct scientific analysis," Luis Elizondo, the director of global security and special programs for DeLonge's group, told the Times .

"That scientific analysis includes physical analysis, it includes molecular and chemical analysis and ultimately it includes nuclear analysis."

UFO fans stop just short of Area 51 - Los Angeles Times

Jebb McAfee drove down the narrow desert road as far as he could and parked near some other cars alongside the scrub brush. In front of him and his two friends was a barricade, a stop sign and a dream.

The three had traveled all the way from Florida to get here: The back entrance to the top-secret military base Area 51.

Caleb Lower said they hadn't slept in 24 hours. It was the big moment, though, and they weren't going to screw it up.

* * *

The trio strode past the barrier toward the entrance a few hundred yards away. Police vehicles came into view. So did cameras on top of tall poles that watched them right back. An armed man in military fatigues — along with a German shepherd — stood behind a red-and-white gate arm.

Hundreds of people began arriving at the gate Friday. They came in tinfoil hats and orange jumpsuits. One guy arrived in his pajamas holding a bottle of liquor. They posed for pictures. Many sprinted the last 100 yards before stopping at the gate.
