EDINA, Minn. — A lack of opportunity has in the past denied girls the fun and benefits of sports. Now a group of Edina middle-schoolers is tackling a new problem that is discouraging fellow female classmates from jumping in – the notion that being the best is all that matters

Lewisburg's Sean Kelly entered the second day of the District 4 Golf Championships tied with a handful of golfers, but still in contention

The group competed at the Eagles Mere Country Club. Kelly was featured in the final group with Cowanesque Valley's Austin Outman, who lead after the first with a low of 78. Kelly was next in line with a group of players, who all posted an 83 after on the first day despite less than ideal conditions for golf.

New York Rangers Offer Free Hockey Lessons For Girls – CBS New York

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The New York Rangers are encouraging girls in our area to try hockey by offering free lessons over the weekend
Dozens of girls took part in the Junior Rangers program at Hommocks Park Ice Rink in Larchmont on Saturday

“It was definitely really fun and I had a lot of fun time on the ice and I definitely will come back,” one participant said

“This day is really important for girls to be exposed to a sport they never played before, and it’s really important for coaches like me to come back and participate in these things, get them excited, make them feel comfortable,” said Erika Lawler, with the National Women’s Hockey League Metropolitan Riveters.
