Leader Sports Roundup: Burbank girls' volleyball wins wild-card playoff match in five - Los

Burbank d. Garden Grove Pacifica Christian, 23-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-21, 15-10 : The Bulldogs went on the road Tuesday and came away with a CIF Southern Section Division IV wild-card victory.

Burbank (14-17), which finished fourth in the Pacific League, will hit the road once again for a first-round contest Thursday at 6 p.m. against No. 1 Norco (18-1). Norco is the Big VIII League champion.

Burroughs (2-9 overall in league) received two wins in singles from Lauren Pieri, 6-2, 6-2, and two in doubles from the duos of Keili Brahms and Vanessa Muga, 6-2, 6-3, and Suzy Kim and Alice Weber, 6-1, 6-0.

CROSS-COUNTRY
Providence in Dos Pueblos Invitational : Aidan Urbina won the freshman boys' race with a time of 17 minutes, 07 seconds and Xander Penaflor finished second in the boys' sophomore race in 16:19 at the event Saturday at Chase Park.

Warriors sports roundup: Girls soccer, swim results for Tuesday - My Edmonds News

The Lynnwood Royals found out just how good their rivals at Edmonds-Woodway are as the Warriors shutout the Royals 5-0 in a Wesco League girls soccer match played Tuesday at Edmonds Stadium.

Four Warriors scored in the contest, led by the two-goal effort of sophomore Deanna Montera Vega.

E-W sits atop the 2A/3A Wesco League standings with a 10-1-1 league record and also holds the No.1 spot in the latest District 1 3A RPI rankings, to be used to seed the upcoming postseason district tournament that begins Oct. 31.

In other E-W sports results on Tuesday, the Warriors’ girls swim team traveled to the Snohomish Aquatic Center, where they lost to the Glacier Peak Grizzlies 130-52 in a Wesco League dual meet.

The Hanover High girls' soccer team remained unbeaten with a 3-2 win over Bow on Tuesday as Charlotte Johnson supplied two goals for the Marauders.

Taylor Burnham and Anna LeFrenier each scored once for Bow. The two sides went into halftime tied 1-1.

Hanover is 15-0 heading into its season finale against Lebanon on Friday. Bow is 12-2 and will finish its regular season at Pembroke on Friday.

Bedford 2, Memorial 1 (OT): In Manchester, Ava Simunovic broke a 1-1 tie in a little over five minutes into the overtime period for Bedford (12-3). Rachel Sledjeski also scored for the Bulldogs! LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid girls soccer team is heading to the Section VII, Class C semifinal round after posting a 2-0 victory over Seton Catholic Tuesday in quarterfinal action.

Playing at home, the fourth-seeded Blue Bombers got second-half goals from Emma Adragna and Dariana Patterson, and a shutout effort in nets from Lea O’Brien.

After a scoreless first half, the Blue Bombers wasted little time getting on the board after intermission when Adragna scored 4:38 into the second half. After taking a feed from Rylee Preston at the top of the Knights’ penalty area, the sophomore beat two Knights defenders and tucked a shot into the left side of the net.

“It was a very intensely played match,” Lake Placid coach Heather Brewer said. “We first started a little nervous; you’re supposed to win the game as the higher seed. CLINTONVILLE — Still unbeaten and now the champions of the Champlain Valey Athletic Conference.

On Tuesday, the Saranac Lake boys and girls cross country teams both moved to 18-0 and also clinched CVAC regular-season titles in the process at a meet at AuSable Valley.

The Red Storm teams knocked off Saranac Central and host AuSable Valley to tack two more wins onto their so far perfect league seasons.

The boys, who are New York state’s defending Class C champions, topped the Chiefs 16-43 and handed the Patriots a 15-46 setback!
