In our review of Gemini Man , Christopher Cross wrote, “Ang Lee’s film is the product of trying to firmly plant itself in the future of filmmaking by employing every digital trick in the cinematic playbook, while also questioning why we make movies the way we do when there are so many other ways to do it.” If you know anything about the making of Gemini Man , you’ll understand what Christopher means by this.
Take for instance, how they made Will Smith look so young. If you haven’t read about the making of the film, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Gemini Man used the same de-aging process as that seen in many of the Marvel films (most notably Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in Captain Marvel ), but in fact, the filmmakers achieved the effect through after-the-fact photographic manipulation (or rather, extreme airbrushing of the actors as they appeared onset). Simply put, the filmmakers created a digital mask of Will Smith at age 23 by using old footage of the actor, and then stretched it over the face and body of current Will Smith. And if that wasn’t enough; visual effects studio Weta Digital elevated its animation prowess using an ultrahigh 3D frame rate (120 frames-per-second at 4K resolution). Crazy right?

Rockford, Rock Valley College aim to salvage talks on advanced technology center - News -
ROCKFORD — Mayor Tom McNamara will meet with private and public sector leaders Monday morning to discuss how to salvage plans for an advanced technology center at the city's idle Barber-Colman factory campus.
Salvation has been a slow bake, but it might be just around the corner. In 2002, the city paid $775,000 for the Barber-Colman property, which it has rechristened Colman Village! 'Gemini Man' was made in such a technically advanced way ...www.msn.com /en-my/news/other/ gemini - man - was-made ...' Gemini Man ' was made in such a technically advanced way that zero movie theaters in the US can show it as intended Jason Guerrasio, Business Insider US. 1 day ago!! Since then, the city has spent more than $1 million in local, state and federal funds to remove polluted soil and asbestos, preparing the rusty factory campus for an extreme makeover.
The workforce dreams of Rock Valley merged with the city's urban renewal vision in October when a development agreement was signed by the college, Winnebago County, the city and the city's nonprofit development arm, Rockford Local Development Corp., the master developer that would create a space for the advanced technology center at Colman Village. As envisioned, RLDC would redevelop 118,000 square feet of two industrial buildings. The college would chip in $9.2 million and lease about 82,000 square feet of that space. The County Board approved a $3 million subsidy for the project, but the lion's share of the expense was to come from tax credits.

RVC announces plans for new Advanced Technology Center
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) ----- "Now, what you're starting to see is the physical or the outward reflection of that work."
The ATC will enhance students' middle skills, like logistics and critical core manufacturing, giving them a boost in the job search. Rockford City Administrator Todd Cagnoni says this center will push the community forward.
"We could identify the educational needs, not only for our existing residents, but what are the workforce needs from our private businesses, so this is a critical component that certainly the Mayor and Rock Valley College and others have been leading on," said Cagnoni.
"It's exciting, it's a proud moment for the college, it's a proud moment for our community. There's so much positive that you're hearing people talking about the economy, but we need to make sure that the talent that we develop stays in this community, that's an investment into our future," said Jensen.
Multi-Center Owner Says Recession-Resistant Business Model, Advanced Technology, and Management
October 16, 2019 // Franchising.com // CHARLOTTE - Experienced franchise investors have several factors they consider when evaluating a potential new business. For Sam Sa, who owns four Meineke Car Care Centers in New Jersey and previously worked with a restaurant franchise, those were return on investment, operational efficiency, economic resiliency and an eye toward technology and innovation.
“I've looked at a lot of franchise businesses as part of my due diligence, and I liked what I saw with Meineke,” said Sa, 32. “If you are a forward-thinking, new generation automotive repair shop that treats it as a retail business, you will appeal to a newer customer base, and there's a very, very good chance that you're going to outperform your competitors.”
“I've been a Meineke franchisee for about a year,” said Sa. “So far, our sales have been up tremendously. In 2018, sales were up 30 percent. This year, sales are up 40 percent. A lot of that success comes from simply following the Meineke playbook. I think anytime a business you invest in is up 40 percent, I would call that pretty good results. I think there's a lot more potential in what we can accomplish and what we can achieve, but so far, the investment opportunity has proven to be above our expectations.”
