The recently opened 20,000-square-foot facility was not scheduled to receive this certification until the end of 2019, but a newly developed ATR compliance team accomplished this milestone in about nine months, the company reports in a news release on its certification! "The audit, which was performed by Orion Registrar scored a near perfect score and was noted as having 'highly knowledgeable staff,' 'sustainable practices for warehouse supply reuse' and 'best in practice' documentation for the ATR Master Material Flow List," says Christopher Jackson, corporate compliance manager for ATR. "When we learned the Blind Center of Nevada had lost their R2 certification in June we shifted into high gear so companies in the region would have a certified processor available."

UAW-GM deal adds tech committee to address industry changes
The United Auto Workers and General Motors Co. would partner under their new contract to manage the impact of new technologies that threaten a century-old manufacturing process currently employing tens of thousands.
The National Committee on Advanced Technology, created in the tentative UAW-GM agreement, would meet quarterly to address the changes the Detroit automaker must implement as it tests 3D printing, plans to pilot driverless taxis in the streets and introduces globally 20 battery-electric vehicles that require fewer parts than their internal combustion counterparts.

Island Park's Francis X. Hegarty Elementary and Lincoln Orens Middle Schools will receive more building upgrades in summer 2020, this time to its art and technology classrooms.
At the elementary school, the art classroom will be renovated. At the middle school, the main office, art classroom, technology education and science research lab will all see improvements, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Rosmarie Bovino and Assistant Superintendent Vincent Randazzo.
"We're really excited about all of it, and each one we've been really involved in," Bovino said. "It will enhance both teaching and learning in the schools."
