Teardown Suggests Apple Watch Series 5 Components Are Close To Identical To Series 4

Teardown Suggests Apple Watch Series 5 Components are Close to Identical to Series 4 -

The AOD is the huge new feature. Nothing else matters this year.
It makes Series 5 a no-brainer purchase for pretty much everyone.

Innovation at its best. On the other hand there are so many "I have to have the latest Apple fashion accessory" people that you really can't blame Apple for catering to ignorant indoctrinated buyers. iFixit Teardown Suggests Apple Watch Series 5 and Series 4 ...-and...An Apple Watch Series 5 teardown performed by repair site iFixit shows the new Watch 's internal components are nearly identical to the previous-generation Apple Watch Series 4.. It's doubtful that this will come as a huge surprise to anyone, as the two devices are identical in design and appearance, with the major difference being the Series 5 's Always-On display. After all they spend millions to make that a reality.

One of iOS 13's major new features is a systemwide Dark Mode option, which matches the Dark Mode feature we got in macOS Mojave last year.

My thoughts on this is highly irrelevant. So much to talk about... where do we find the time.

Amazon launches Echo Buds, smart glasses, other Alexa products —

At an event at its headquarters in downtown Seattle, Amazon unveiled a host of new gadgets today (Sept. 25), many of which are powered by its Alexa voice assistant.

In typical Amazon fashion, the company's hardware chief Dave Limp breezed through the announcements, launching myriad updates to existing products while also unveiling entrants into new fields, describing each with the same vigor.

Here's a quick run down of everything announced. We've broken the list out into new devices, new services, and forthcoming devices:

... Is a Perfect Puzzler to Showcase Apple Arcade's Promise -

There used to be a time when I'd wake up every morning and excitedly checked Apple's App Store, to see what surprises games might be waiting. Sure, there was a lot of junk, but there were enough revelations to justify genuine excitement about the platform's future. Device 6! Spaceteam! Flappy Bird! Like the Wii, the iPhone's unique interface promised new kinds of games we hadn't seen before. At some point, a time I cannot exactly pinpoint but definitely a few years back, I basically stopped playing mobile games. My "games" folder is full of stuff from five years ago. I didn't trust when a game was free, and felt the balance was tilted to spending more money. iPhone 11 Pro Review: Major Camera And Battery Improvement Over Previous Apple

Every year in September, Apple introduces its new iPhones, and every year, a high percentage of Android enthusiasts scoff at what they consider to be outdated tech.

And so while Android handsets, given the far more competitive and cut-throat landscape, is always going to be offer more cutting-edge tech–we already have a 5G-ready foldable Android with six cameras, for example–the iPhone experience is more than the sum of its hardware parts.

(I actually tested the larger iPhone 11 Pro Max model, but other than screen and battery sizes, the 11 Pro Max is identical to the smaller 11 Pro, so for the sake of simplicity, I'll refer to the phone as 11 Pro throughout the review except when talking about battery performance)

Apple quietly introduces U1 chip to let new iPhones find other devices - The more- Follow The Verge on Follow The Verge on RSS feed (all stories on The Verge)

Verge3.

One of the understated components of Apple's iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro is the new U1 chip. It didn't get a prominent callout onstage at today's announcement event, but it will underpin what Apple says are "amazing new capabilities" coming to iOS devices in the future, including a more accurate, directional version of AirDrop coming with iOS 13.

The "U" in U1 stands for "ultra-wideband," which is the technology Apple is using to power new location tracking features for its smartphones and, hopefully soon, other accessories, too. The U1 chip effectively lets the newest iPhone locate and communicate with other U1 devices in a more accurate and speedy fashion.
