A prolific hacking gang has been making a name for itself with a string of cyber attacks against a range of high-profile targets. In the space of just a few days, a group known as Lapsus$ revealed that it has stolen data from big-name organisations including Microsof t and Okta .

Social media can be a great tool to network, meet new people and maintain relationships. Recently, some students are finding themselves dealing with hackers and impersonators. These hackers can gain access to your accounts, spam followers and even spread malware.

This happened to one student whose TikTok was hacked and temporarily banned as a result. "I was sitting in my bed on a Thursday night and I got a message on my phone," junior journalism and public relations major Lindsey Hyams said.

Hackers steal from hackers by pushing fake malware on forums

Security analysts from two companies have spotted a new case of hackers targeting hackers via clipboard stealers disguised as cracked RATs and malware building tools.

This allows attackers to hijack financial transactions on the fly, and transfer the money to their accounts. These stealers focus on the more popular cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Monero.

Hackers exploit new WPS Office flaw to breach betting firms

An unknown Chinese-speaking threat actor has been targeting betting companies in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines, leveraging a vulnerability in WPS Office to plant a backdoor on the targeted systems.

The adversary appears to be sophisticated, and its toolset features code similarities to APT group backdoors analyzed in two 2015 and 2017 reports by Palo Alto and BlackBerry, respectively.

Chinese 'Mustang Panda' Hackers Spotted Deploying New 'Hodur' Malware

Slovak cybersecurity firm ESET dubbed the new version Hodur , owing to its resemblance to another PlugX (aka Korplug) variant called THOR that came to light in July 2021.

Mustang Panda, also known as TA416, HoneyMyte, RedDelta, or PKPLUG, is a cyber espionage group that's primarily known for targeting non-governmental organizations with a specific focus on Mongolia.
