Pokemon announces new video games Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Pokemon Shining Pearl and

Today, during a Pokémon Presents video presentation, Tsunekazu Ishihara—president and CEO of The Pokémon Company —announced the new Pokémon Brilliant Diamond , Pokémon Shining Pearl , and Pokémon Legends: Arceus —video games coming to the blockbuster series that spans 25 years. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl will launch in late 2021, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus will launch in early 2022.

In 2006, Trainers were introduced to the Sinnoh region with the release of the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl games on the Nintendo DS system. Players can once again visit the Sinnoh region in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl , which are faithful remakes of two iconic Pokémon games. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will introduce fans to the Sinnoh region of old—before the existence of Pokémon Trainers and Pokémon Leagues.

Our Favorite Video Game Characters Who Didn't Make the Bracket - The Ringer

In a field of 64, sadly the likes of Revolver Ocelot and Pablo Sanchez were left on the bubble. To make amends for these snubs, we honor them here.

Reader, I'll let you in on a secret: Not only did Pablo Sanchez not make the final 64-character bracket, the Backyard Sports icon didn't even make the final cuts list. I'm truly baffled and disappointed with my colleagues. Do they dislike home runs and touchdowns? Do they not care for 3-pointers and goals?

To quote actual MLB star Andrelton Simmons , with one small change for this bracket: "Don't you dare disrespect Pablo Sanchez with these other [characters]. There wasn't anything he couldn't do. To this day the world hasn't seen anything of that caliber." — Zach Kram

Many things are taking place:

Coding Blackness: A History of Black Video Game Characters | WIRED

Similar to other mediums, such as film, music, and literature; Black culture has been, and is, integral to grappling with our collective understanding of video game history. People of color have often been portrayed in popular media as stereotypes and tropes that speak to an underlying structure of racism, patriarchy, heteronormativity, and other forms of systemic oppression.

Video games are complex systems of visual culture that "create and uphold value systems and hierarchies of one constituency"—often the dominant class at the expense of another, says Soraya Murray in her book On Video Games: The Visual Politics of Race, Gender and Space , published in 2017. In short, they can be racist too.
