Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer” still slaps in quarantine - Vox

Against the backdrop of the novel coronavirus pandemic , Megan Thee Stallion's 2019 anthem "Hot Girl Summer" has been in heavy rotation on my Spotify account. The song has become an essential part of my personal quarantine soundtrack, and I think it should be part of yours, too.

* * *

A quick refresher on where you may already know "Hot Girl Summer" from, in case you have completely forgotten anything that preceded the pandemic: "Hot Girl Summer" the song was predated by the hot girl summer movement, whose origins can also be traced back to Megan Thee Stallion. A self-proclaimed "hot girl coach," Megan championed the victories of hot girls everywhere on her May 2019 album Fever and laid the foundation for "hot girl summer" to take the internet by storm.

This may worth something:

Boys wearing chains is next level fit. We asked girls and a psychiatrist why

Weirdly, so far no one else has documented the raw power of fit men wearing chains, or tried to explain it. Not even Vice. But it’s something I just need an answer to, as my chain obsession only grows with each 30 minute episode of Normal People. I contacted doctor in sexual health and psychiatry, Dr Elle Vooght, to seek an answer to my desperate plea: Why do we love men who wear chains so much?

* * *

I appreciate the validation that it is an evolutionary based attraction: going after boys with chains is just survival of the fittest (literally). However, the ‘status’ kinda chain seems to imply a pretty heavy beasty, like a rappers chain or something that might be adorned with a diamond encrusted dollar sign. What about our boys Connell and Cook, who sport much thinner chains? Is it just a bad boy thing?

Mindy Kaling's smart teen sex romp "Never Have I Ever" may be her best series yet |

Mindy Kaling is obsessed with romantic comedy films, and frankly the world is better off for it. As a producer, writer and star who first paid homage to the genre in her long-running Fox (then Hulu) comedy " The Mindy Project ," Kaling demonstratively has enough respect for romantic comedies to imitate the traits that make them classics of a kind.

This makes her new Netflix comedy "Never Have I Ever" a familiar and yet fresh and much-needed revelation, in that it centers the very people generally sidelined in such movies. I can only think of a few films that achieve something similar, and do it as well, 2019's "Booksmart" being one of them. But even that doesn't feature a cast mostly composed of non-white performers or a young woman of Indian descent as its romantic lead.
