Aespa's 'My World' becomes most-sold album from K-pop girl group on 1st day
SEOUL, May 9 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group aespa has set a new record by selling about 1.37 million copies of its third EP, "My World," on the first day of its release, the group's agency said Tuesday.
"My World" had widely been expected to become a million seller since it reached 1.8 million preorders before its release Monday.

Until now, global success for K-pop acts has mostly come through massive conglomerates like YG Entertainment and HYBE.
An English language version of the song — dubbed the "Twin Version" — went nuclear on TikTok and Fifty Fifty found themselves with a global hit. This week, "Cupid" surges to No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, making them only the second K-pop girl group to crack the top 20 after Blackpink.
Girl group Aespa breaks its preorder record with 3rd EP
May 8 (UPI) -- K-pop girl group Aespa has sold over a record 1.8 million preorders for its upcoming third EP, My World, its agency said Monday.
With the new EP, the band broke its previous record for preorder sales set by its second EP, Girls , which sold over 1.61 million copies in July.

aespa released their third mini album MY WORLD' on May 8, along with the title single 'Spicy.' According to the Hanteo Chart, aespa's 'MY WORLD' album sold 1,372,929 million copies on its first day of sale.
aespa is a four-member South Korean girl group managed by SM Entertainment, which debuted on November 17, 2020, with their single 'Black Mamba'.
