New Data Shows FTC Received 2.8 Million Fraud Reports from Consumers in 2021 | Federal Trade

Newly released Federal Trade Commission data shows that consumers reported losing more than $5.8 billion to fraud in 2021, an increase of more than 70 percent over the previous year.

The FTC received fraud reports from more than 2.8 million consumers last year, with the most commonly reported category once again being imposter scams, followed by online shopping scams.

FTC Returns More Than $930,000 To Consumers Who Bought Teami's Deceptively Advertised Teas |

The Federal Trade Commission is returning more than $930,000 to consumers who bought tea products that Teami marketed and sold using allegedly deceptive health claims.

The FTC sued Teami, LLC and its owners in March 2020 , charging that the company made bogus health claims and paid for endorsements from well-known social media influencers who did not adequately disclose that they were being paid to promote the defendant's products.

FTC targeting extended car warranty robocalls - The Washington Post

I get several robocalls a week from companies saying that my manufacturer's factory car warranty has expired and that I'll be in a heap of financial trouble if I don't get an extended plan right away.

Scary letters come regularly with the words "FINAL NOTICE" and "EXTREMELY URGENT," warning that I need to extend my auto warranty or I'll be financially liable for all repairs.
