Golden Globes 2020 Best Dressed & Worst Dressed

Celebrities, to their credit, took some big swings on the Golden Globes 2020 red carpet. Some swings resulted in home runs, others sent the ball flying into a suburban Free People store. Okay — enough with the sports metaphors. The largest trend, both literally and figuratively, was dramatic sleeves, a look worn by everyone from Jodie Comer to Cate Blanchett. It has usurped the big pink dress trend of last year's Academy Awards and the pink-and-red trend of the 2019 Emmy Awards .

While you're here, how about this:

Stafford: Some people only have 'this little shred of family'

And unlike the plural form, which is the fourth definition in the dictionary I checked, the definition I have in mind is the first.

When I was growing up, it was most often used to point out the kind of person Yosemite Sam might have called an “idjit” or “maroon” in outbursts that were the spittle-filled Tweet storms of an earlier age.

In that sense, boob was most often paired up with the rhyming word “tube” to create “boob tube” or television.

Supersized sleeves: stars opt for big puffs at the Golden Globes | Fashion | The Guardian

It was cheering, then, that the biggest fashion trend of the night could not have less to do with the male gaze. It was Big Sleeve Energy, a power move straight from the Tudor court.

Such gargantuan puffs of fabric, also worn by actors such as Bel Powley and Kaitlyn Dever, probably made air-kissing a little challenging. But the sleeves were more than buffers. If the bodies beneath the dresses tended, predictably, towards the skinny Hollywood ideal, these outfits at least ensured their wearers took up space.
