Quite a lot has been going on:

10 Best LEGO Video Games of All Time - All LEGO Gaming Titles Ranked

This game came out of complete left field, a decade after the original movies released. Now, there have been some pretty damn impressive Lord of the Rings games, like Shadow of Mordor , all those glorious PS2 titles, and the upcoming Gollum game, but few—in fact, none—were as colorful and vibrant as this one. It was just a classic LEGO beat 'em up and collect-a-thon, re-skinned with LOTR characters.

Worlds honestly would have been higher on the list if it hadn't been so damn clumsy. It opened up endless, procedurally generated worlds and areas for you to build, and had some stellar co-op. The inspiration was clearly Minecraft , with a LEGO skin. For all intents and purposes it was a good game, but it should have been great. The controls were clumsy, and there were just way too many glitches.

'Kentucky Route Zero' is a gorgeous, anti-capitalist parable in the form of a video game - The

As these things go, it took longer and longer to release new acts — at last, the gulf between Acts 4 and 5 spanned more than three years. Cardboard Computer, which coalesced in Chicago, has since scattered around the country. Tamas Kemenczy stayed in Illinois while Jake Elliott moved to Elizabethtown, Ky., and Ben Babbitt headed west to Los Angeles, where he's worked with singer Angel Olsen and others.

The trio's growth makes itself known as the story unfolds. From act to act, Kemenczy's flat vector designs increase in complexity and sophistication. Babbitt's atmospheric soundtrack and vivid sonic environments tighten up and branch out from a strong start — it's frankly astounding from someone who never did sound design prior to this project.

PAX East's best games: Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doom Eternal and Spiritfarer are highlights

BOSTON — At PAX East, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the undisputed winner. The annual video game convention on the east coast, which drew large crowds last week and over the weekend despite coronavirus concerns, was abuzz with Animal Crossing chatter. At Nintendo's PAX East booth, fans could wait for photo ops with Isabelle and KK Slider on a set filled with plastic trees, a yellow tent and an adorable home with a red door. It was a peaceful respite from the crowded and chaotic convention.
