The singer from Gilbert had advanced to the Top 7 on a Katy Perry judges save last Monday, but was one of the contestants sent home Sunday after the audience voted for this season's Top 5.
"Honestly, I feel like this whole thing has been super surreal," Breinholt told The Arizona Republic last Monday. "But now ... it's getting real. Like, it feels like I'm on 'American Idol' now. It feels like there's competition. And it's intense a little bit."
The other contestant voted off the show was Julia Gagnon, who sang the B-52's hit "Roam" and Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain."
