Shot into space as part of the agency's OSIRIS-REx mission in 2016 , the capsule was enclosed for years within a spacecraft that made a 4-billion-mile-long journey to reach Bennu.

Following a seven-year journey of billions of miles, the spacecraft OSIRIS-REx returned a sample from the asteroid Bennu Sept. 24 and Rowan University’s Harold Connolly Jr., along with hundreds of his NASA colleagues, wept with joy.
