Operation ChattyGoblin: Hackers Targeting Gambling Firms via Chat Apps

A gambling company in the Philippines was the target of a China-aligned threat actor as part of a campaign that has been ongoing since October 2021.

Slovak cybersecurity firm ESET is tracking the series of attacks against Southeast Asian gambling companies under the name Operation ChattyGoblin .

White House tasks hackers with breaking ChatGPT

"AI is one of the most powerful technologies of our time, but in order to seize the opportunities it presents, we must first mitigate its risks," the White House said in a statement.

"The Administration is announcing an independent commitment from leading AI developers, including Anthropic, Google, Hugging Face, Microsoft, Nvidia, OpenAI, and Stability AI, to participate in a public evaluation of AI systems."

Hackers Are Using ChatGPT-Themed Lures to Spread Sophisticated Malware on Meta - CPO Magazine

Meta's security team has warned that hackers are exploiting increased public interest in ChatGPT and similar generative AI chatbots to spread novel malware on its platform and take over accounts.

In its Q1 security report, the team said threat actors are exploiting people's interest in AI chatbots such as OpenAI's chatGPT and Google's Bard to trick people into installing malicious applications.

To enable ethical hackers, a law reform is needed - Help Net Security

Organizations need to be able to match the ingenuity and resources of cybercriminals to better defend themselves against the increasing number of threats and attacks that could paralyze their business.

Unfortunately, some laws restrict genuine security research. As we await the findings of UK Home Office's review of the 1990 Computer Misuse Act , it's time to rethink traditional approaches to security testing and for the UK government to support the case for ethical hacking proactively.

'White hat' NZ hackers reveal security holes in top software | RNZ News

A New Zealand cyber security consultancy firm has uncovered major flaws in a widely used business software.

Aura Information Security said one of its researchers, Harry Withington, discovered several vulnerabilities in Pentaho, a business intelligence and data analytics platform operating out of the United States.
