School sports: Meridian win first B Division girls' football title | The Straits Times

SINGAPORE – With the memory of her team's 4-0 loss to Queensway Secondary School in the 2022 B Division girls' football final still fresh, Meridian Secondary School Nur Alysha Nasrina Naseri was determined to redeem herself.

The goalkeeper did so in the best way possible – scoring the first spotkick in Tuesday's final before saving three in the shootout – as Merdian beat Tampines Secondary School 3-1 on penalties after the match had ended goalless.

The evolution of a sport (Part 1): Seneca girls bring home medals from state wrestling tournament

Mar. 6—SENECA, Mo. — When future state champion Isabella Renfro started wrestling in middle school, she was the only female on her team.

"When I was in eighth grade ... I had to wrestle against the boys in competition." Renfro recalled recently.

Renfro, now a junior and recent state champion at 190 lbs. for Seneca High School, comes from a wrestling family and is sandwiched in age between her brothers, freshman Jace Renfro (190 lbs.) and senior Lincoln Renfro (175 lbs.).

Vote for the Tuscaloosa area girls high school sports athlete of the week

Mary Hayes Henderson , Northridge softball: Went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two doubles in a 14-13 loss to Sipsey Valley. Had five RBIs in the first inning in a 16-0 win over Paul Bryant.

Mallory Sluder, Southern Academy softball: Was 3-for-4, including a home run, and had 16 strikeouts in seven innings. Hit her seventh home run of the season in an 11-1 win over Morgan Academy.

Prep Sports Notebook: Local players earn All-State recognition in girls basketball

The All-State teams have been announced by the Associated Press and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association for girls basketball. And there is most definitely some local representation.

AP Class 2A : Amayah Doyle of Carterville-First Team. Ensley Tedeschi of Benton and Sophie Bormann of Massac County-Honorable Mention.

One of the biggest fourth-quarter rallies in program history put the Rolla High Lady Bulldogs into the Missouri Class 5 District 6 Tournament championship game.

Second-seeded Rolla trailed third-seeded host Marshfield by 14 points in the third quarter of the District 6 semifinals Saturday, March 4.
