Asteroid smashed by NASA's DART probe looks a bit like an M&M | Space

Planetary scientists attending the first major conference since NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) permanently moved a space rock offered early findings about the asteroid and the impact.

At the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union held last month in Chicago and virtually, DART scientists tweaked that finding just a little, updating the calculation to 33 minutes.

NASA now has the ability to defend Earth from an asteroid or comet

If you were a moviegoer in the 1990s, it was clear that the Soviet Union was no longer a threat to the American people. With no threats to America's total dominance to be found on Earth, movie writers and producers began looking toward the heavens for new sources of conflict.

A far-out plan to build an asteroid city - Big Think

But what are a bunch of physicists to do when a pandemic grinds the world to a halt if not work on something “wildly theoretical,” as they put it? And there’s few things more aptly described as such than an asteroid city.

Even more wild: they’ve got an idea they think — and the math says — could work (if we are ever in a position to do it).

Radio Transmissions Seek to Measure Asteroid

An experiment conducted in Alaska used long-wavelength radio transmissions to hopefully map the mass distribution of a potentially hazardous asteroid.

From the high peaks of the Andes to the deep cold of the Arctic and Antarctic, space science happens in some amazing locales. The dry air, often clear skies, lack of surrounding buildings, and little light pollution help with any number of observations.

260-foot Asteroid 2022 YZ2, 5 other GIANT asteroids heading for Earth next week, NASA says | Tech ...

Space is full of asteroids, comets, and meteoroids and many have been classified as Near-Earth Objects (NEOs). These objects often get attracted towards Earth due to its gravitational pull or if the planet comes in their trajectory.

The 230-foot asteroid named 2021 TL will be making its closest Earth approach on January 9, 2023, at a distance of 5450000 kilometers, according to the information provided by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

Asteroid City: Everything We Know So Far

Some film directors establish themselves so firmly in their niche that their films don't even need to include their credit. People just know their style on sight and assume they were at the helm. Wes Anderson is a unique and specific talent who can't be replicated.

Anderson's 2021 film The French Dispatch was praised by critics, but almost every review mentioned that it will appeal mostly to the director's fanbase. Most people know what they're getting when they jump into one of his films.
