Some games fit that need to hit the skies literally, such as "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020," which lets players fly a plane across a hyper-realistic Earth crafted from satellite imagery. Still, this doesn't replicate exploring a foreign country's culture or taking in the sights and sounds of a bustling city far from home. Other titles do, however, and some games flaunt locales that make even the wildest real-world destinations seem positively tame in comparison.
So, let's showcase some game settings for travelers of all types, from the agrarian enthusiast to the hair-on-fire adrenaline junkie. Here are some of the best vacation destinations in gaming.

Anthem canceled: BioWare halts video game revamp
Game maker BioWare said Wednesday it has stopped developing an overhauled version known by many as "Anthem NEXT."
"While we continue to make progress against all our game projects at BioWare, working from home during the pandemic has had an impact on our productivity and not everything we had planned as a studio before COVID-19 can be accomplished without putting undue stress on our teams," BioWare executive producer Christian Dailey said in a blog post updating "Anthem's" status.
Can Video Games Be a Healthy Outlet for Stress Relief? | WIRED
Video games have become an increasingly vital form of entertainment for many people over the course of the last year. They're immersive in a way that television and books aren't, and often engage that part of your brain that ends up aimlessly scrolling social media instead of actually relaxing. As we've all been at home, desperate for entertainment, video games have filled a void.
The question is: Is this a good thing? We've all seen the ridiculous, alarmist articles on the effects video games have on kids. But surely at a time when stress and anxiety are rampant, relaxing with a low-intensity game has got to be a boon to an adult's mental health. Right?

Its real transformational potential is in the emerging markets. Barriers to employment and education lowered by the internet can be altogether eliminated by immersive technologies.
Although rooted in video games, this tech has been forecast to change the world for several years. That promise seemed distant: Google Glasses were unnecessary and FarmVille came and went in a flash.
Immersive technology extends and enriches the user's current experience of reality. It provides suspension of disbelief through creative and technical production values found in video games like Fortnite or TV shows like Black Mirror or The Mandalorian .

AI smashes video game high scores by remembering its past success | New Scientist
An artificial intelligence that can remember its previous successes and use them to create new strategies has achieved record high scores on some of the hardest video games on classic Atari consoles.
Many AI systems use reinforcement learning, in which an algorithm is given positive or negative feedback on its progress towards a particular goal after each step it takes, encouraging it towards a particular solution. This technique was used by AI firm DeepMind to train AlphaGo, which beat a world champion Go player in 2016 .
Pokémon might be famous for its games, but it also has some great gadgets - The Verge
Pokémon might be renowned for its cooperative gameplay , delightful spinoffs , and making an intimidating genre approachable , but the franchise also has a long history of creative and interesting gadgets.
My Pokémon Pikachu was a staple of my childhood. Released in 1998 , it was a pocket-sized gadget that was kind of like a Tamagotchi, except you took care of a digital Pikachu. But it also had a built-in pedometer that you could activate just by shaking the device up and down. (Or, like in the commercials embedded above, jumping.)
