The value of video games during self-quarantine | Local News | journaltimes.com

Over 20 computers are lined up on a large table for players to use at Not Your Parents Basement Gaming Lounge, 410 Main St., which opened in summer 2017. The computers will remain empty for at least a month as Wisconsin's Safer at Home has forced "non-essential businesses" to close.

"When you have access to the internet, you're never too isolated. The fact that you can get a hold of your friends at really any time is so great," said Malvasio, a 25-year-old Cree employee.

Twitch and Call of Duty: Warzone are helping my coronavirus anxiety — Quartz

It is, undoubtedly, macabre. But, for me, Warzone has been something of a miracle during this crisis, especially because I get to play it with friends.

As I told Quartz at Work reporter Lila MacLellan in last week's Quartzy newsletter , beyond serving as a fleeting distraction, gaming has literally given me a sense of control at a time when everything else feels out of my control. You can listen to the experts, stay at home, wash your hands. You can minimize your risk of getting infected and infecting others. Ultimately, though, it's not entirely up to us. The virus will do what it does.

What to play at home if you're "bad" at video games | To Do | wyomingnews.com

Video games, to the uninitiated, can be intimidating. And yet in this time of social distancing, video games may suddenly look quite appealing to a whole new audience.

There's no shortage of vast, enveloping worlds to explore – I'm partial to "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" and "Marvel's Spider-Man" (both PlayStation 4 games) for slick adventuring, and Nintendo's "Fire Emblem: Three Houses" for deep, time-consuming romance and role-playing – but these games are off-limits unless you have $250 to $350 for a home console and are already controller literate.
