The team behind Apple’s ‘Mythic Quest’ says video games aren’t the punch

When Ubisoft first approached “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” stars Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day about creating a new show set in the video game industry, McElhenney said they weren’t interested — at least, not initially.

“Anything that we had ever seen in the past, from a movie or television show perspective, the industry was always presented in such a negative light,” he told me. “It was the butt of the joke. The characters themselves were derided, and it was very specific to geek culture … We just had no interest in that.”

Local video game developer Charles McGregor's super addictive HyperDot is now on Xbox | City Pages

This week, Charles McGregor released his first videogame, HyperDot, on Xbox and PC. This weekend, he'll celebrate with an official launch party at Green Lantern in St. Paul.

Hyperdot, dubbed a "minimalist arcade game," challenges players to dodge objects in over 100 different situations. You can play alone or with friends, meaning it has the potential to be a great party game. It's currently available on Steam, itch.io, and Xbox.

The key to McGregor's success has been simple: Bug the shit out of people and prove them wrong.
Before he was in Seattle talking shop with the bigwigs at Microsoft, he was a kid who needed to prove a point.

Why 2020's a rare perfect time to dig into your video game backlog | PCWorld

They joined Watch Dogs Legion , Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 , and others that had already slipped their spring release dates before heading into 2020. Less than a month in, what was set to be one of gaming's busiest spring seasons ever is now tumbleweeds.

Bloodborne was first on the list, a game I bought in 2017, played the opening hours of, and then shelved when review duties got in the way. I finally finished it on January 6. Then it was on to Sekiro , another From Software game I didn't have the time to do justice to prior. I finished that one this week after losing (more than) a few days to the Demon of Hatred and a few other end-game bosses.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Educators at Burleson ISD are getting ahead of the game, preparing students for jobs in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world -- video games.

"The growth has just been phenomenal," said Dr. Leslie Bender Jutzi, chief academic innovation officer for Burleson ISD. "In 2022, they're expecting $1.8 billion."

The district developed an esports academy, where students learn science, math, and language standards through the lens of video games, according to Shawn Minor, of the Burleson ISD board of trustees.
