Action starts again early next week, with head coach Donna Williams and her 2-11 cagers hosting 5-7 Stratton/Hi-Plains for a league match-up slated Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 4:30 p.m.

SPRINGVILLE – The Springville varsity girls basketball team is one of four vying for an ECIC III title. The elite in the conference are Iroquois, Lake Shore, East Aurora and Springville. For most of the season, Iroquois has touted the polls as the top small school team in the area. That changed when an upstart East Aurora team surprised the No. 1 Chiefs recently. Enter now the Griffs, who last week beat the team that beat the No. 1 team.

Springville delivered its best win of the season over visiting East Aurora on Jan. 29 in a 53-46 win and followed that with a 49-25 victory over visiting Maryvale on Feb. 4. The pair of wins gave Springville a half-dozen in its last seven games.

The Indians got off to a quick start, leading 42-12 by halftime and finished the night comfortably with a 68-31 win over the Tigers.
"When there are three guards hitting that makes us a little bit more dangerous," Osage coach Scott Rowland said.
The Indians lost Gamm to injury during a game against Camdenton on January 14 and the team is hoping she can return at some point this season. Osage went on to drop two straight games to Blair Oaks and Branson in the aftermath, but the team was certainly on the right track Thursday night.

On Friday night’s return trip to Minneapolis High School, both teams put on another thrilling display, this time at the defensive end as Minneapolis eaked out a 39-35 win over 2A No. 2 Sacred Heart.
The Knights were without its top player, Tate Herrenbruck, who is out for the year due to an injury.
Still, the Knights were able to pummel rival, Southeast of Saline on Tuesday without its top scorer. So there was no questions that Sacred Heart would still be a brutal challenge for Friday’s game.

A three-year-old girl's body has been found inside a car in regional Victoria on a day where temperatures reached more than 40C.
Emergency services went to The Boulevard in Morwell about 8.30pm on Friday, police confirmed on Monday.
The temperature at the Latrobe Regional Airport - a 10-minute drive away - at 8.30pm hit 34.4C, the Bureau of Meteorology told AAP.
